Perhaps the Eastern Atlantic Division is the most even in the entire NBA. However, there are two teams that are one little step higher than the rest of the group; the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors. Both teams made many movements in the market and are the favorites to win the division this upcoming season. Let’s see:

New York Knicks

Resigning Carmelo Anthony was the best move the Knicks did during the offseason, so far. With Anthony in New York, the legend Phil Jackson could build a team around him. Indeed, the President spent his summer getting as many players as he could in order to play next to Carmelo and fulfill the expectations. He brought Quincy Acy, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, Travis Outlaw, Spanish Jose Calderon and Jason Smith.

Jackson did his job in the office, now is the time for the new coach Derek Fisher getting the best of the players and getting back in the playoffs, since they didn’t get in last season. In the NBA Future Odds to win the championship, the Knicks are listed 60/1.

Toronto Raptors

Just as the Knicks, the Raptors also made intelligent movements during the summer, and they are 60/1 in the NBA odds to get the ring this season. In their main transactions, they hired the guard Kyle Lowry and brought the Brazilian forward Bruno Caboclo. In addition, they got a deeper bench when they re-signed Greivis Vasquez and picked James Johnson.  Keep an eye on Vasquez; he’s an underrated playmaker.

Brooklyn Nets

Just one-step behind the Knicks and the Raptors are the Brooklyn Nets as the third candidate to win this division; they are 70/1 in the future NBA champion odds. Despite the Nets didn’t have any draft picks, they found a way to bring two second round players Markel Brown and Cory Jefferson.  In addition, they bought Jarrett Jack and Bogan Bogdanovic, who’s coming from Europe.

However, they lost two starters players in Shaun Livingston and Paul Pierce. And, as if that were not bad enough, the coach Jason Kid is gone too. Therefore, the amazing level of Livingston and the leadership of Kid outside the court, and the Pierce inside it are not going to be easy to replace this season.

Boston Celtics

Coming in the fourth place, the Boston Celtics are hoping their selections in the draft Marcus Smart and James Young could replace Rajon Rondo, at least for the first weeks, since Rondo broke his hand slipping in the shower recently; he is going to miss 6 to 8 weeks. Boston also re-signed Avery Bradley in order to fortify their defense.  In the future odds to win the NBA title they are 150/1.

Philadelphia 76ers

Coming not only in the basement of the division, but of all the NBA the Sixers are 650/1 in the future championship odds. Well, Philly is under rebuilding process, and the way things are going, this won’t be the year for the Sixers.
