2014-15 NBA Future Odds – Clippers to Win the West Pacific division

The Los Angeles Clippers will start the 2014-15 NBA season as the favorites to win the West Pacific Division. They didn’t only win it last year (57-25), but they also signed some players and will have a more depth on the bench. Let’s take a look.

In the Clippers, Doc Rivers signed the center Spencer Hawes to become another option between the big players of the team. (Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan).  Although, they lost guards Darren Collison and Danny Granger, they brought good replacements to their team. Jordan Farmar will take Collison’s place, and they drafted guard C.J Wilcox from Washington.  In the future odds to win the NBA Champion the Clippers are listed 11/1.

Still in Los Angeles, and way in contrast to the Clippers, the Lakers are making a rebuilt and in the odds have no chances for getting the ring, rated 90/1. However, if you ask in the Lakers office about getting the title, they do think they have in off material to win their 17th championship in June.  At least, the general manager of the team, Mitch Kupchak is confident in his speech.

“Our expectations are to win a championship,” Kupchak said. “The expectations outside of this room might not be the same.”

Kupchak is right; outside the Lakers, the majority of the people do not see the Lakers as the champions in June. They have a full of veterans squad; Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and recent addition Carlos Boozer may be all be in a good shape and healthier than the last year, but are their bodies will support all season?

Moving up a little bit on the map, the Golden State Warriors did not move so much their last year’s squad. They gave head coach Steve Kerr Shaun Livingston and Brandon Rush, who comes back again to the team after one season in Utah. In the Golden State Warriors future odds for to win the NBA title, they are rated 30/1.

This season the Phoenix Suns tried to get as much talent as they could select in the market. In the first round of the draft, they chose forward T. J Warren (N. C State) and the guard Tyler Ennnis (Syracuse). Besides those rookies, the Suns bought Isaiah Thomas in a sign-an-trade transaction with the Sacramento Kings. In addition, they signed in the forward Anthony Tolliver.

Playing with these cards, Phoenix is 85/1 in the future odds for winning the NBA title. Just like the Lakers, the Suns do not have many chances for winning the division, at least in this scenario.

Last and unfortunately least in this case, the Sacramento Kings are the worst team under this division to win the NBA title in the future odds, 300/1. They are not expected to make much noise this year.

In their moves, Sacramento released Isaiah Thomas and brought Darren Collison to take his place. Also, they traded Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy to the Knicks and got Jeremy Tyler and Wayne Ellington instead. On paper, they are not candidates, but basketball is about playing games, so the time will say if they surprise this year.
