If there’s a curse involved with winning the Super Bowl, the Baltimore Ravens experienced it last year when the former champs missed out on the playoffs after going 8-8.

However, if there is one hallmark of Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome it’s his teams may be down but never completely out. That’s if the team can keep its players from getting arrested. Corner Back Jimmy Smith was recently the fifth player to end up behind bars, while Ray Rice still awaits any suspension news tied to his high-profile domestic abuse incident earlier this year.

After letting Anquan Boldin go and Ray Rice becoming a non-factor, the Ravens offense sputtered last year ranking 18th in passing and 30th in rushing. Defensively, the team appears sound ranking 12th against the pass and 11th against the rush. Despite the offense woes, the team looked defense with the addition of Alabama linebacker C. J. Mosley in the first round.

Looking to this season, the Ravens face six playoff teams with an overall schedule featuring opponents boasting a .461 winning percentage last year (28th in the league). Furthermore, the Ravens will be playing two different sets of back-to-back road games.

Oddsmakers have Baltimore posted at 8.5 for o/u wins. Considering questions abound whether the Bengals are legit, the Steelers are ready to contend and Johnny Football can help the Browns, Baltimore could return to prominence with the over paying -120.
