New Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine had a “Welcome to the NFL” moment last spring when it was announced his first game would be against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

While the team has announced Brian Hoyer is the starting quarterback, there are hints that first round pick Johnny Manziel may get on the field for a few plays.

As for the Pittsburgh Steelers, all eyes are on rookie inside linebacker Ryan Shazier; however, it’s last year’s first round pick outside linebacker Jarvis Jones that the team is hoping takes a big step forward this season.

Jones said, “I’m not thinking too much but I’m not where I want to be. I’ve just got to continue to work and not over-think things and when I’m out there just be more comfortable and be myself so that will allow me to make plays.”

One of the difference makers for the Cleveland Browns could be Ben Tate, who came over to the team in the off-season. Pettine said Tate is ready for the season to begin.

“He’s ahead of those guys, and I think he’s been solid in protection,” he said. “I think he does a nice job catching the ball. I would think that he has the edge over those guys as far as third down. That’s not saying they won’t be there, but he’s probably the guy you can trust the most right now would be Ben.”

So the question for this Sunday is whether the whether the Cleveland Browns can run with the aging Pittsburgh Steelers. Considering the Browns’ anemic offensive display in the preseason, the under looks enticing based alone on their lack of ability to score.
