It seems like every year the Dallas Cowboys are on the verge of being respectable. Then the regular season begins, Tony Romo throws an ill-timed pick and the cameras catch yet another disappointed look on owner Jerry Jones’ face.

Even though their record didn’t show it, Romo had the offense ranked 15th in passing, while the run game fell to 24th overall. Defensively, the team was in shambles ranking 30th against the pass and 27th against the run.

As much as Jones wanted to draft Johnny Manziel, he should have dedicated his entire draft to the defensive side of the ball. Instead, the team drafted offensive lineman Zack Martin in the first round. Next, the Cowboys selected linebackers Demarcus Lawrence in the second round and Anthony Hitchens in the fourth round.

Looking to this season, the Cowboys face six playoff teams with an overall schedule featuring opponents boasting a .488 winning percentage last year (18th toughest in the league). Furthermore, the Cowboys will be playing two sets of back-to-back road games, as well as a game in London.

Oddsmakers have the Cowboys posted at 8 (over -115) for o/u wins. Whereas the Giants continue to struggle, who knows how high Washington’s RGIII and Philadelphia’s Nick Foles fly in the NFC East. That said, the Cowboy could surprise everyone with a double-digit win total.
