You know the summer is almost over when the MTV Video Music Awards are near. Still, the hot affair is one the season’s best where pop culture, music and celebrity come together for what often results in career-defining memories.

This year the 31st annual high-profile affair takes place Aug. 24 at recently refurbished Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Among the notable storylines, Beyoncé leads the nominees with eight nominations with Eminem and Iggy Azalea tying for second with seven nominations.
