Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors (-9, 215 o/u)

The Dallas Mavericks (40-23, 19-13 away) will seek a measure of revenge against the Golden State Warriors (47-12, 25-2 home) tonight when they clash for the third time this season (10:30 p.m. Eastern at Oracle Arena).

In the previous two games, the Warriors have downed the Mavs by at least seven points, including a 128-114 comeback last time out (February 4). That night, Golden State point guard Stephen Curry had his highest-scoring performance ever at home, dropping 51 points on the defensively suspect Mavs.

“Sometimes Steph plays his best when we’re down big, and he just senses that he has to put the Superman cape on,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said back in February. “And he’s so good at it. He loves the freedom of being down and saying, ‘All right. I’m going to let it fly and bring us back.’ And that’s what he did.”

Even Mavs coach Rick Carlisle couldn’t help but be impressed by Curry’s performance. “He had one of those extra-special nights. I’ve never seen anybody in this league hit shots like that from that distance,” said the Dallas bench boss.

Unfortunately for the Mavericks, they come into this game struggling. The team has lost three of its last four and were trounced last night in Portland, 94-75. Dallas’ usually dynamic offense shot just 37.5-percent from the field.

The Warriors, meanwhile, have won three of four and continue to hold down top spot in the Western Conference. They’re also a league-best 25-2 on home court. Playing at home tonight against a tired and struggling Mavericks, the Warriors are currently laying nine points in the odds.

Looking at the trends, Golden State has beaten Dallas in seven of the last ten head-to-head, including the last five in a row. In the last ten against the Mavs at Oracle, though, the Warriors are just 4-6 against the spread.
