The New England Patriots and the Washington Redskins shared three practices together this week, and they finally will meet this Thursday 7:30 PM ET, at the FedEx Field, Washington.

In the practices, New England’s offense looked good; most reporters talked about how QB Tom Brady is in sync with his receivers. However, the Pats will put QB Ryan Mallet as the starter.

“I think Ryan has been solid for us all year,” Belichick said Tuesday in Richmond, Va., before the Patriots’ joint practices with the Washington Redskins. “He’s come back and done everything, done very well. Like everybody out there every player, some plays are better than others.

“Ryan has good poise in the huddle, good presence on the field, handles the team well and absolutely knows the offense from A to Z and can make the adjustments and whatever changes, communications, checks, we need to make. He’s shown good ability to do that, he has a lot of physical talent. He’ll get an opportunity to — he really hasn’t had an opportunity to play in a regular-season game in three years, so he’ll get a lot of playing time this year in preseason and hopefully continue to improve.”

Washington will put RGIII on series, and then the backup QB will take the field.  The Redskins are -1-point favorites in the NFL Preseason Betting Odds and the game total was set at 38.5.

“I got a chance to talk to Tom,” Redskins quarterback RGIII said in Richmond, Va., per The Boston Globe. “He’s been saying that he’s been in the same offense for 15 years, which is astounding. That’s amazing. (He) said this is only my third year, said I have a lot of football left in me, and that’s great coming from a guy like him.
