Last season was supposed to be the year RG3 and his Washington teammates dominated the shaky NFC East. Instead, the team fell from a playoff squad to 3-13. Now new Head Coach Jay Gruden is hopeful he can turn around the once dominant team.

Despite a shaky year out of RG3, the team’s offense still ranked 16th in passing and 5th in rushing. The defense, however, had plenty of holes ranking 20th against the pass and 17th against the run.

To help the defense, Washington (which didn’t have a first round pick thanks to drafting RG3 two years prior) picked linebacker Trent Murphy in the second round and offensive lineman Morgan Moses in the third round.

Looking to this season, Washington face five playoff teams with an overall schedule featuring opponents boasting a .490 winning percentage last year (17th toughest in the league). Furthermore, Washington will be playing two sets of back-to-back road games.

Oddsmakers have the posted Washington at 7.5 (under -145) for o/u wins. The problem is the NFC East is a mess with the Giants and Cowboys struggling to stay afloat. Sure, everyone loves the Eagles but who knows what Nick Foles does this season. That said, solid play out of Washington could find the team in double digits for wins.
