TopBet sportsbook is relatively new on the scene, but I had been hearing a lot about it and decided to give it a try. While it doesn’t yet have all the side-products that other major sportsbooks offer, TopBet is a solid option for those who just want to bet on sports.
I’m told there were some hiccups with credit card processing at first, but by the time I joined they had that all sorted out and then some. I was able to use my Visa and get playing in minutes. Signing up was in general a positive experience, and the agent I talked to on the phone was friendly and helpful. As they expand, their customer service is getting better and I’ve had no major problems there.
What’s caught a lot of attention is their bonus – 50% bonus on top of your initial deposit is a very enticing. Do note, however, that they require a 10x rollover, meaning that you’ll have to bet the equivalent of your deposit ten times in order to be able to cash out with your bonus. This is fine if you’re joining at the start of the season and strapping yourself in for the long haul, but not if you’re an occasional bettor or just trying to make a couple of bets on the playoffs.
The betting experience at Top Bet is solid. Odds were mostly limited to sports and events popular in America, but they have recently started including international favorites like cricket and rugby. Their lines are often up early, which I have occasionally been able to capitalize on, and even “middle” on a few bets thanks to their football odds fluctuating between the time they’re released and kickoff.
One disappointing omission is the lack of a Racebook. I’m not a big horse junkie, but it would be nice to be able to bet on the odd race – especially when you’re trying to work off that rollover requirement.
Top Bet offers online casino games but not a proper poker room. If you’re interested in poker, you’ll have to get an account somewhere else. As a sports bettor primarily, I’m glad Top Bet has taken the initial approach of focusing on their sportsbook rather than spreading themselves too thin.
I didn’t join TopBet until recently, but I had heard early on they were a bit slow at getting players paid on time. They have smoothed this over and I haven’t had any problems getting paid since I joined, with their speed improving each time.
All in all, TopBet is a reliable sportsbook. It’s missing a few extra features for now, but you can expect to see them added in over time. If the bonus offer is appealing to you and you just want to bet on sports, give Top Bet a try.
