Online sports betting sites have made it clear we shouldn’t expect a tight game tonight at Vivint Smart Home Arena as the Jazz opened as 11.0 point favorites against the Bulls. Tip off is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. EST.
That’s what happens when one of the NBA’s best defensive teams tangles with one of the league’s worst offensive teams.
The Jazz have been doing an outstanding job of putting the clamps opponents this season. They rank fourth in fewest points allowed at 105.5 points per game, and are limiting opposing teams to 46.0% from the field and 37.0% from downtown.
Utah uses its size and length to force 14.9 turnovers per game, and is 22nd in the NBA in rebounding. Add it all up and you have a team that can thrive even when its offense falters.
Speaking of faltering offenses, the Bulls are generating 100.7 points on 42.0% shooting from the floor and 35.0% from deep. They’re 27th in rebounds and 27th in assists. They’ll need to be far sharper tonight to have any shot of earning a victory.
This is the first time this season these two squads have met, but both clubs have been busy lately.
The Jazz are coming off of a 93-106 win against the Magic in Orlando in which they shot 12 for 33 from deep and won the war on the glass 53-48. The Bulls, meanwhile, are fresh off a 112-124 loss vs the Trail Blazers in Portland in which they dished out 22 dimes and scratched and clawed their way to five steals. Wendell Carter Jr. torched the Trail Blazers for 22 points.
All told, the Bulls have won three of their previous ten games and are 13th in the Eastern Conference, while the Jazz have lost four of their previous ten and are ninth in the Western Conference.
The 11.0-point spread isn’t the only angle you can take advantage of. Bookmakershave also set a modest over/under total of 206. Keep in mind that Chicago is 19-22-0 against the spread this season and 16-25-0 over/under, compared to 21-20-1 ATS and 21-21-0 over/under for Utah.
