Don’t expect a nail biter on Tuesday, March 19 at Fiserv Forum as the Bucks opened as 13.0 point favorites against the Lakers. Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.
That’s what happens when one of the NBA’s best defensive teams tangles with one of the league’s worst offensive teams.
The Bucks have been doing an outstanding job of limiting opponents this season. They rank ninth in fewest points allowed at 108.6 points per game, and are limiting opposing teams to 43.0% from the field and 36.0% from downtown.
Milwaukee uses its speed and athleticism to force 13.4 turnovers per game, and is first in the league in rebounding. Add it all up and you have a squad that can thrive even when its offense sputters.
Speaking of faltering offenses, the Lakers are averaging 111.9 points on 44.0% shooting from the floor and 33.0% from beyond the arc. They’re 10th in rebounds and 12th in assists. They’ll need to be far sharper tonight to have any chance of pulling out a victory.
These two teams have already met once this season. The last time they played on March 2nd, 2019, Milwaukee won 131-120 behind 31 points from Eric Bledsoe.
The Bucks are hot on the heels of a 130-125 loss vs the 76ers in Philadelphia in which they shot 16 for 50 from deep were out-rebounded 69-50. The Lakers, meanwhile, are fresh off a 123-124 loss against the Knicks in New York in which they dished out 26 assists and came up with 12 swipes. LeBron James led the way with 33 points.
All told, the Lakers have won two of their last ten games and are 11th in the Western Conference, while the Bucks have lost four of their previous ten and are first in the Eastern Conference.
The 13.0-point spread isn’t the only angle you can take advantage of. Bookmakers have also set a high over/under total of 237. Keep in mind that Los Angeles is 27-41-2 against the spread this season and 29-41-0 over/under, compared to 41-26-3 ATS and 35-35-0 over/under for Milwaukee.
