Thursday Night Football

NY Jets +12.5 at New England Patriots -12.5 – Game total 44 – 8:25 PM ET

The Jets and the Patriots each won in week one, but it wasn’t pretty for any of these franchises. The two AFC East teams will meet on Thursday night football at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots barely beat the Bills 23-21 in a game where they made too many uncharacteristic mistakes.

“I didn’t have a lot of doubt,” quarterback Tom Brady said, referring the Patriots last drive. “We’ve got a team full of fighters. There’s going to be some ugly wins, but we’re always going to fight until the end.”

Shane Vereen was the best player of the game with 101 yards on 14 carries; he also looked great in the passing game as he received seven balls for 58 yards.  Also, the Amendola – Brady connection is already paying off.

The Jets edge the Tampa Bay Bucs 18-17 with the rookie Geno Smith leading the team with 256 passing yards, one TD and one interception.

New York covered the spread in week one, and the Pats didn’t.

The NY Jets are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games when playing New England, but the Pats are 6-12 ATS in their last 18 games when playing at home against NY Jets.

Pick: Take the OVER 44 points.

Sunday

Denver Broncos -4.5 at NY Giants +4.5 – Game Total 55 – 4:25 PM ET

ou can’t expect the Giants to play as sloppy as they did in the 36-31 loss against the Cowboys. New York lost the ball six times and yet they were defeated only by five points.

“You’re not going to win the game turning the ball over five times and muffing a punt,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “I’m totally, totally disappointed, embarrassed about that football. That’s sloppy, sloppy football.”

The Broncos smashed the Ravens in the opening game, and will be rested for their game against the Giants, but you can expect a closer game than what happened at Denver on Thursday.

Peyton Manning is 2-0 when he has faced Eli, and will be the favorite for the game on Sunday afternoon

Pick: Giants +4.5

San Francisco 49ers +3 at Seattle Seahawks -3 – Game Total 44.5

Seattle Seahawks v San Francisco 49ersBoth teams won, but the Seahawks’ 12-7 victory over the Panthers was pretty unimpressive.  Russell Wilson threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse in the fourth quarter and won a game that seemed to be slipping away from them.

“We’d called for a shot before, and I was surprised we’d missed on that one,” said Wilson. “Maybe I threw it a little too far. I saw Kearse out there with the rest of the guys, and I read the play. He was a second read, and he did a great job of attacking the football.”

The 49ers beat a contender on Sunday; they managed to beat the Packers for the third time in a row in two seasons with Colin Kaepernick throwing 425 yards and three touchdowns and with new receiver Anquan Boldin gaining 208 receiving yards in the 28-34 win.

The Seahawks slapped the 49ers 42-13 the last time they met in Seattle and the game will have a payback environment surrounding it.

Keep in mind Seattle is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games when playing at home against San Francisco

Pick: Seahawks -3.
