Samuel Teah’s Road to This ShoBox Main Event

Teah enters this outing on the heels of back-to-back victories. His last outing was just over a year ago when he notched a March 7th, 2020 unanimous decision win over Dieumerci Nzau.

Teah fell short in a previous title bid to Tre’Sean Williams for the USA Pennsylvania state super lightweight title. This bout provides a bit of a chance at redemption. Moreover, it provides another opportunity for Teah to bolster his resume with some championship hardware.

Teah will face a notable step up in quality of competition here as he tests skills with the brick-fisted Lee, who has twelve first-round KO wins on his resume.

Conversely for Lee, this also represents a meaningful step up in competition for him. This is a compelling crossroads fight for both men at this juncture in their respective combat careers.

He who wins the IBO intercontinental hardware can do a lot to jettison themselves towards an IBO world title crack should they garner an emphatic victory here.

Brandun Lee’s Quest for 22-0

Brandun Lee has an unblemished professional record and underpins that with an amateur resume of 190 bouts. A notable stat that leaps off the screen is Lee’s 90 percent knockout rate overall as a professional pugilist.

Despite 2020 causing rampant bout and event cancellations due to COVID-19 considerations, Lee was still able to win four bouts through the calendar year.

Lee’s last outing saw him notch a TKO victory in the third round of his December prizefight with Dakota Linger.

While Teah does not have a mindblowing knockout rate in his own right (41 percent), he has an obvious level of durability as he has never been finished as a pro.

This will provide an interesting test for Lee, who has scored twelve consecutive stoppage victories across his pugilistic efforts.

The majority of Lee’s KO wins have come inside four rounds but the thought is that the durable Teah will be able to give Lee a few rounds at least.

This contest is scheduled for ten rounds, but I do not see it going the distance. I think there’s good value on prop bets centered around this contest not going the distance (-500) and also for Lee winning by TKO or KO (-455).

The durability of Teah makes me a little bullish on going with a specific prop bet on the group of rounds the fight ends, but I do see him getting halted inside the distance when Lee vs Teah goes down.

Pick: Brandun Lee (-1400)
