California Chrome is bidding to become horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. The California bred winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness is the13th horse since Affirmed to win the first two jewels. The first 11 failed to win at the Belmont, and I’ll Have Another was injured before trying the mile-and-a-half test of champions in 2012. Four close calls have ended in agony with Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, Real Quiet and Smarty Jones finishing second in New York. Here is a look at some of the possibilities and their odds of taking place as the world cheers on California Chrome June 7.

Odds to win it all:
-California Chrome wins Triple Crown  4/5
