Bayern Munich will try to forget the last season final debacle by winning this season UEFA Champions League trophy; their first team on the road is Valencia.  The game is this Wednesday at 14:45 PM ET at Allianz Arena.

Bayern lost the Champions final last season at home, after going ahead in the scoreboard with just minutes left to play. It was declared one of the biggest if not the biggest debacle in team’s history.

Munich is tied with Barcelona as the fourth-most successful side in European football, having lifted the Champions League/European Cup on four occasions – their last triumph coming in 2001, it was against Valencia.

In 2001, Bayern ended Valencia’s dreams of a first Champions League, winning on penalties thanks to a missed kick from current coach Pellegrino (right).

“I know [Valencia] very well, and I’ve played them quite a few times,” Javi Martinez told Bayern’s official website. “They’ll definitely push us hard because they have a great team.

“They’re very balanced, they have plenty of pace, they put opponents under pressure, and they’re very well set-up tactically”.

Valencia will look to take at least one point of the Allianz Arena with the help of their great striker Roberto Soldado.

“We have to win in order to get the good start we are aiming for. It will not be an easy game against the strongest team in our group, but we have already shown versus Barcelona and Real Madrid what we can do,” Soldado was quoted as saying by EFE.

“We are full of confidence and want to start our Champions League campaign on a high.

“However, Bayern have some great players and are among the best teams in Europe. They made it to the Champions League final for a reason last term”.
