The undefeated Michigan State Spartans will try to storm Notre Dame Stadium this Saturday when they clash against the Fighting Irish, this Saturday at 3.30 PM ET, in one of the most important games of the week.  The match will be broadcasted by NBC.

The Spartans left a lot of doubts in the first two games of the season against Western Michigan and South Florida, but they put a beating on Youngstown State last week.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio chose freshman Tyler O’Connor as the starting quarterback for Saturday, after he went 15 of 22 for 202 yards and four touchdowns against the Penguins.

“This will be a great experience for (Cook) because he’s going to have an environment to play in that’s going to simulate really what a lot of Big Ten environments are going to be from this point on,” Dantonio said. “That’s going to be a period of growth for him.”

The Spartans and Irish don’t like each other all that much.  There’s bad blood here.  Notre Dame is 2-1 after losing to Michigan in week 2; they can’t afford another loss.

“It’s not like I have to stand in front of them and get them ready for this fight. They know what kind of fight it’s going to be,” Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. “This isn’t, you know, hey, guys, please listen to me this week. They know what they are going to get from Michigan State.”

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 6.5 favorites according to the College Football betting lines. Notre Dame is 1-7 ATS in its last 8 games when playing at home against Michigan State.
