Barstool Sports is at it again with it annual Blake of the Year competition. There are a ton of Blake’s all across professional sports, but the blogging site has narrowed it down to NFL quarterback Blake Bortles, NBA forward Blake Griffin, and PGA golfer Brooks “Blake” Koepka.

And, getting in on the tradition is Bovada who has released odds for the competition.

There’s a New Blake in Town

As the odds suggest, it is a super close race between Los Angeles Rams quarterback Blake Bortles and Detroit Pistons forward Blake Griffin.

As you can see from last year when they ran the competition, Barstool took into account how fast each Blake answered their phone to reward them with the trophy. They also did numerous interviews throughout the year with them, that was goofy and funny as you can expect at Barstool Sports. And, it usually comes down to Blake Bortles and Blake Griffin, when the award is handed out on July 12th.

But, this year there’s some more competition beside Bortles and Griffin, as Brooks Koepka did an interview with Barstool and they liked him so much they made him an honorary Blake for this competition. The nature of competition this year is unknown –  it could be answering the phone or sending a text – which makes it hard to predict.

However, if it is the phone call again, Bortles is just too quick on answering his phone, doing so in just under 12 seconds. While Griffin has struggled to even answer the phone as he could be in the gym working out or on vacation after a long NBA season. So, in that way, the odds favor the NFL quarterback to defend his Blake of the Year trophy.

Bortles is the Favorite, But Koepka’s Availability is a Key Factor

Although Bortles is the early favorite, we have yet to see Koepka answer a phone. So, 11 seconds is definitely beatable. And, given the fact that the PGA golfer is not playing in a tournament this weekend, he could very well be by his phone and waiting for this call to win Blake of the Year.

But I expect Bortles to win it once again this year as he and Big Cat have a solid friendship and he will know the call is coming this year. Even with that though, there is value on Koepka to win it, and win arguably the biggest award of his career.

Pick: Blake Bortles (+155)
