  • Early odds being offered favor rapper Pitbull to headline the Super Bowl 54 halftime show.
  • Pitbull is from Miami, where Super Bowl 54 is to be played.
  • The Super Bowl 53 halftime show featuring Maroon 5 is being panned by critics as perhaps the worst ever.

They’re talking about Pitbull and the Super Bowl coming together to join forces next year, and no, it has nothing to do with Michael Vick.

Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is slated to play host to Super Bowl 54 and rapper Pitbull, who hails from South Beach, has already dropped an official hype video for the event.

This had increased speculation that the rapper would be a natural to headline the halftime show as the big game is played in his hometown. Sportsbooks clearly agree, as they made Pitbull the favorite to do just that at +500.

Past Miami (Super Bowl) Sound Machines

The last time Miami played host to the big game in 2010, The Who headlined Super Bowl 44.

Truth be told, Miami has been responsible for some of the lamest Super Bowl halftime shows.

This list includes Up With People, Elvis Presto, and an Indiana Jones-themed performance that wasted the talents of Tony Bennett, Patt LaBelle, Teddy Pendergrass, and the Miami Sound Machine.

Gloria Estefan did return minus the MSM to join Stevie Wonder and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy for a much better halftime show at Super Bowl 33. And Prince played Super Bowl 41 in Miami. So there’s that.

It’s Pitbull, or Another Dog and Pony Show

The NFL is taking a beating over its Super Bowl 53 halftime show featuring Maroon 5, which got such scathing reviews people actually seemed to forget how bad the game itself was turning out to be.

It was so dreadful that even other professional sports teams took to mocking it.

The NFL is concerned about getting millennials tuned into their game, and that’s why their next Super Bowl halftime show should cater to a younger crowd. Then again, it’s the NFL, so who knows what they might come up with?

The league took plenty of heat for eschewing Motown acts during Super Bowl 40 in Detroit to put the Rolling Stones on as the Ford Field halftime show. They’d be wise to throw Miami a bone with Pitbull at halftime. Considering that sportsbooks have the Dolphins at +10000 in their Super Bowl 54 future book, it figures to be the only hometown flavor on offer.

Pitbull was featured in a Super Bowl 53 ad.

We’re willing to wager he’ll be featured at halftime of Super Bowl 54. And so should you.
