Dignitas LCS Week 4
Dignitas has been a surprise through three weeks of the LCS 2021 Spring Season. With a 6-3 record, they still have great value as the slight favorites in a couple of matchups.
  • The LEC Spring Split gets it’s 2020 Spring Split underway on January 25th
  • G2 open the season as huge favorites to win it all at -225
  • Fnatic, Origen and Rogue are the teams that could potentially overthrow G2 Esports

The LEC Spring Split is finally back on January 25th. Following a long off-season filled with roster moves, G2 is still massively favored to keep their crowns as the Kings of Europe.

G2 Should Still be Top Dogs

G2 Esports are the 2019 MSI Champions, and the 2019 World Finalists. Sure they got swept by FunPlus Phoenix in the grand finals of Worlds, but along the way they picked up big wins over SKT and Damwon Gaming. For one of the first times in recent memory, a European team was in the conversation for ‘best team in the World’. In 2020, that shouldn’t change as I expect them to continue to destroy everyone in Europe.

The only question mark surrounding G2 is their recently announced role swap. In 2019, G2 swapped Perkz to AD Carry in order to sign Caps as their mid laner. This year, Perkz is going back to his previous role, and Caps will move to the bot lane. With every other roster spot remaining the same, the core of G2 should help facilitate this rather curious move. I’m not sure it will make them a better team, but it shouldn’t affect their standings in Europe.

G2’s Toughest Opposition

Realistically, there are only two teams that could take the Spring title away from G2. The first is of course Fnatic. They lost their starting jungler in Broxah to Team Liquid, and replaced him with Selfmade. As a rookie for SK Gaming last year, Selfmade was very impressive and single-handedly won them a handful of games. His addition might make Fnatic even more explosive than last year.

The other team is Origen. They won the off-season with a collection of big moves. Origen signed prize free agents in Xerxe and Upset before filling out their roster with Destiny from the OCE. It’s a roster with a lot of potential, however, it’s unlikely for them to develop chemistry and challenge G2 right off the bat.

Playoff Surprises

For the most part, the odds appear to have the top 6 close to how I would have it. The only place where you might be able to make some value is with Schalke 04. They signed one of the most dominant AD Carry’s in the history of European LoL, but of course, he comes with a risk. He can be a little strong-minded to put it lightly. Still, the talent is there and I think his abilities can help Schalke 04 sneak into the playoffs over a team like Vitality or Rogue.

Picks:

To Win – G2 Esports (-225)

To Make Playoffs – G2, Fnatic, Origen, MAD Lions, Rogue, Schalke 04

Rogue is a Potential Top 3 Longshot

When it comes to the top 3, G2 and Fnatic are no doubters. Most people would put Origen in the third spot but I think this is a decent spot to take a gamble. Rogue is a team with a lot of upside. They have a trio of young and promising players who now have a little bit of LEC experience. Pair that with their new ADC of Hans Sama and it seems like a recipe for success.

Top 3 might be a little rich but I like the value better than just riding with Origen.

Bottom of the Barrel

Similar to the top 3, the bottom 3 looks pretty locked in. Misfits, Excel, and SK Gaming just don’t hold up talent-wise. SK Gaming, for example, lost their best player, Selfmade, to Fnatic. That’s the case for a bunch of these lower placing teams. Their top talent gets plucked by teams that are much more competitive.

Picks:

Top 3: G2 (-667), Fnatic (-154), Rogue (+350)

Bottom 3: Misfits (-110), Excel (-250), SK Gaming (-400)
