  • The coveted Tour Championship caps off the FedEx Cup Playoffs at East Lake Golf Club from Sept 3rd-Sept 6th
  • Daniel Berger, Kevin Kisner, and Brendon Todd are some of our favorite plays this week in Atlanta
  • Read below to find out the best matchup plays and odds for the 2020 Tour Championship

The 2020 Tour Championship kicks off this weekend to close out the FedEx Cup Playoffs at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, which has played host to the playoff finale since 2004. Rory McIlroy won at East Lake in 2019 with a total score of 18-under par.

After back-to-back unbelievable weeks of golf, Dustin Johnson remains the favorite heading into Atlanta this week at +187. Johnson heads into this week as the leader in the FedEx Cup rankings, which means he starts the tournament at 10-under par.

Last week’s winner at the BMW Championship, Jon Rahm, is second in the FedEx Cup rankings and will start at 8-under par.

Although Johnson and Rahm have a big advantage heading into the weekend, neither of these guys are on my watchlist. Let’s take a look at my three favorite matchup plays at East Lake Golf Club this week.

DeChambeau/Berger Matchup Odds

Player Odds at DraftKings
Bryson DeChambeau -110
Daniel Berger -110

All odds taken September 2nd

Berger’s Consistent Return

Since the return of the PGA Tour, Daniel Berger has been remarkable. Berger won the Charles Schwab Challenge back in June, finished tied-third at the RBC Heritage, second at the WGC-St. Jude Invitational, and third at the Northern Trust.

As you can tell, Berger has been dialled in with just about every club in his bag. The Florida State product has fared well at East Lake in the past. Berger finished 12th in 2015, 15th in 2016, and 15th in 2017 at the Tour Championship. Berger also holds a 69.58 scoring average which is the 9th best in the field this week.

DeChambeau gained weight to improve distance, and he had been great at the beginning of the restart. However, since his win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, he has had just one top-five finish in his last five starts. Berger is now up to his career-best 13th in OWGR and is playing solid golf.

This season Berger is 14th in Strokes Gained: Putting, 10th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 5th in Strokes Gained: Total. There is no question starting at 4-under par, Berger will be in contention come Monday.

Pick: Daniel Berger (-110)

Kisner/Horschel Matchup Odds

Player Odds at DraftKings
Kevin Kisner +110
Billy Horschel -137

Kiz Lives for East Lake

I love Kevin Kisner this week. Although this is a long course at almost 7,400 yards, Kisner has played great golf at East Lake. The Aiken, South Carolina native finished ninth last year and third in 2017 at the Tour Championship.

Kisner has been undeniably great these last few weeks. He finished tied-fourth at the Northern Trust, tied-third at the Wyndham Championship, and had a third place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The 36-year-old is also sixth in Putting Average, seventh in Scrambling and seventh in Driving Accuracy in the last eight weeks on the PGA Tour.

Kisner’s matchup this week is against Billy Horschel. The former Florida Gator has been playing very well too, however, Kisner has a one-shot advantage heading into the tournament. Horschel won this event in 2014, but Kisner has an upper hand in recent form.

Pick: Kevin Kisner (+110)

Todd/Munoz Matchup Odds

Player Odds at DraftKings
Brendan Todd -148
Sebastian Munoz +115

Todd’s Razor Sharp Short Game

It might surprise most people that Brendon Todd has two wins on the PGA Tour this season and currently sits in 39th in OGWR. Todd is not one of the purest ball strikers Tour, nor is he a big bomber, but he finds ways to get it done.

Todd’s game is not flashy, but his stellar short game and consistency off the tee is what makes him so good. The 35-year-old is fourth in Driving Accuracy this season and sixth in Sand Save percentage. Moreover, Todd’s putter can get hot as he sits at 21st in Strokes Gained: Putting this season.

Todd has not played in this event since 2014, however, after a tied-eighth place finish last week Todd is in a great spot heading into the week.

Sebastian Munoz also finished tied-eighth with Todd last week in Illinois. The 27-year-old Colombian does not have a ton of experience just yet, which leads me to believe he could be intimidated by an experienced field like this one.

Todd’s value is not great in his matchup with Munoz. That being said, with both of them starting at 3-under par I have no doubt that Todd will be somewhere near contention come Monday.

Pick: Brendon Todd (-148)
