  • Cameron Tringale leads the 3M Open by one shot over Gary Woodland and Maverick McNealy after round three
  • 15 golfers are within three shots of Tringale on a jam-packed leaderboard
  • See the updated odds at TPC Twin Cities below for Sunday’s final round within the story below

Cameron Tringale made the most of moving day at the 3M Open from Blaine, Minnesota as he carded three birdies and an eagle en route to a bogey free, 5-under, 66. He entered the week as one of the favorites at +2500 to lift the trophy. The 33-year-old holds a slim one shot edge over 2019 US Open champion Gary Woodland and Maverick McNealy, who, like Tringale, is in search of his maiden PGA Tour victory.

Should Tringale, who remains winless after 306 starts, stumble, there are plenty of players ready to pounce, including major champions Woodland, Charl Schwartzel, Jimmy Walker and Louis Oosthuizen. Eight players sit just two strokes behind the leading man after a breezy and difficult third round. The 18th hole was particularly punishing, as 12 competitors made a double bogey or worse, including Sung Kang, who made a 12 on the final hole.

Read on to see the updated odds and the best bets heading into Sunday’s final round.

Young Gun McNealy Poised For First Victory

With apologies to leader Cameron Tringale, it’s just very difficult to trust a golfer who has had so many kicks at the can to break through into the winner’s circle, particularly against such a compressed leaderboard. Also keep in mind, nine straight winners on the tour have trailed entering the final round.

Enter Maverick McNealy, the man with the outstanding name and an even more brilliant golf game. The former #1 amateur in the world has had brushes with that maiden win, finishing second at Pebble Beach this season and T-4 at the RBC Heritage. He entered this week with four straight top-30 results.

McNealy has just one bogey the last two days, and is T-16th in final round scoring average on the campaign. Seven of his 12 Sundays have been in the 60’s, with nothing worse than a 72 in the last five instances.

He’s also third in strokes gained tee-to-green through 54 holes, and considering he has slightly longer +600 odds than Tringale and Woodland, the better value play.

2021 3M Open Best Live Value Picks

  1. Jhonattan Vegas (+1400): The three-time PGA Tour winner has been very consistent, making all but one of his last 14 cuts. Included in that are a pair of runner-ups at the Puerto Rico Open and the Palmetto Championship. He starts the final day just two back, and is second this week in putts per green in regulation and fifth in SG: tee-to-green. He’s tied for most birdies this week, with 17.
  2. Louis Oosthuizen (+3300): Louis Oosthuizen has been such a tortured soul this season as he lost a playoff at the Zurich Classic, then finished runner-up at the PGA and US Open, then lost a 54 hole lead at last week’s Open Championship. However, he’s too good to never win in the States, and he can be aggressive because he starts four back. He’s first in greens in regulation, hitting a remarkable 47 of his first 54, with at least 15 in all three rounds.
