SK Wyverns +200 +1.5 (+135) Under 9.0 (-110)

Odds as of Aug. 5th.

Straily Will be Too Much For SK

The first ace we’re going to put our money behind is Lotte’s Dan Straily. The 31-year-old has been a tear recently, mowing down batters left and right.

Last time out, he sat down 10 KIA Tigers’ batters, and he’s the only KBO pitcher to eclipse the 100 strikeout plateau this season. He’s allowed just three earned runs total in his last five starts and the SK offense has been an embarrassment recently. The Wyverns have crossed the plate just twice in their last four games and have been outscored 74-15 during their current six-game losing streak.

SK will counter with Joo Han Kim, who gave up five runs in only 3 innings of work last time out, and surrendered six runs in a loss last month against these same Giants.

The price is steep, but I just can’t avoid picking on the Wyverns in this matchup.

Pick: Lotte Giants -1.5 (-165)

Brooks Has Been a Beast

The next ace on the agenda is KIA’s Aaron Brooks. The right-hander has won each of his last three decisions, and has given up two or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts. Just once during that stretch did he fail to pitch into the 7th inning, and he’s fresh off a dominant outing against Lotte.

He scattered five hits over 8 innings of one-run ball versus the Giants, and he allowed just three hits in his only start this year versus Thursday’s opponent LG.

The Twins meanwhile, will give the ball Chang Gyu Lim, who’s been on quite the roll himself lately. The 27-year-old has surrendered just one run total in his last three starts, one of which was against high powered Doosan.

Scoring is definitely going to be tough to come by in this contest, making the under an appealing play.

Pick: Under 9.0 (-105)

Rucinski is Dino-Mite

Speaking of Doosan, the Bears are the only team in the last two and a half months to find any success against NC’s Drew Rucinski. The defending champs roughed up the Dinos hurler last week, but prior to that Rucinski had allowed one run or less in five straight starts (all victories).

He’s faced Thursday’s opponent Hanwha once this season, and he turned in an absolute masterpiece. He held the Eagles to just four hits over 8 scoreless innings en route to a 3-0 win.

Hanwha will send Shi Hwan Jang to the mound, who’s just one start removed from allowing six runs to light-hitting SK. He’s faced NC once this season and surrendered four runs in just 3 innings in a 13-2 blowout defeat.

Once again I don’t love the price, but the Dinos runline odds are just too low.

Pick: NC Dinos -1.5 (-205)
