Believe it or not, we’ve finally reached a point in the KBO season where the last place Hanwha Eagles are a screaming value.

Hanwha, who’s undefeated in its last three, enters play Thursday at 5:30 am EST as a home underdog to SK, who’s lost 11 straight.

 KBO Odds: Thursday, September 10th

Samsung Lions +240 +1.5 (+112) Over 8.5 (-130) 5:30 a.m.
Lotte Giants -310 -1.5 (-142) Under 8.5 (+102)

Odds as of Sept. 9th.

The Eagles haven’t gone undefeated in four straight at any point during 2020, but nevertheless there’s no reason for them to be an underdog against this Wyverns team at this point in the season.

SK Struggling to Stay in Games

SK has allowed 39 runs in its last three games alone. They’ve surrendered at least nine runs in seven contests during their current skid, and have been outscored 107-54 in the process. Yes, they’re 9-4 versus Hanwha season, but have yet to beat Thursday’s starter Warwick Saupold in two tries.

Early in the season, Saupold threw a complete game, two-hit shutout against the Wyverns, and back in July held them to three runs over 6 innings in a no-decision. The right-hander didn’t have his best stuff last time out versus KIA, but two starts ago he limited Lotte to one earned run over 7.1 innings.

SK will roll with Jong Hoon park, who’s been rocked in three straight losses. He’s given up 14 runs during that stretch and has made it out of the 5th inning just once. He’s 3-0 against Hanwha this season, but has allowed 10 runs in 16 innings of work.

Pick: Hanwha Eagles moneyline (-102)

Straily Owns Samsung

Dan Straily was a difference maker again in his last start, holding KIA to one run and four hits over 7 innings in a Giants victory. He’s won three consecutive starts and is perfect versus Samsung in 2020.

Three weeks ago, he threw 6 shutout innings in a win over the Lions, and in their previous meeting he allowed just a single run in another victory. He leads the KBO in strikeouts and K/9, while ranking second in FIP and kFIP.

Straily vs Samsung This Season

Date IP R H K
August 23rd 6.0 0 2 6
July 19th 6.0 1 4 6
June 26th 7.1 4 8 3
May 26th 6.1 0 3 7

The Lotte offense has scored at least seven runs in three of its past five, and have fared well against Lions starter Dae Woo Kim in the past. The Giants roughed up Kim for seven hits and four runs in his only start against them this season, and the right-hander is fresh off a defeat against Hanwha. In that outing, he failed to make it out of the 5th inning, which isn’t especially uncommon. Kim has lasted less than 5 innings in three of seven starting assignments in 2020 and has posted just one quality start.

Pick: Lotte Giants -1.5 (-142)
