  • There are 14 games on the MLB schedule for Sunday, April 11th
  • Season record: 11-16: -$539 loss (based on $100 wagered per unit)
  • Some wagering advice for Sunday’s games can be found below

A total of 14 games are on the schedule Sunday in Major League Baseball.

The Chicago White Sox will try to make a bit of history when they host the Kansas City Royals at 2:10pm ET. Dylan Cease (0-0, 5.79) will start for Chicago against left-hander Mike Minor (1-0, 6.00) after the teams were rained out Saturday at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The White Sox will attempt to win their 18th straight game while facing a left-handed starter. That would tie the major league record set by the Atlanta Braves from 2004-05.

Chicago has won three of its last four games and Kansas City has lost three of its last four.

Sunday’s largest favorite is the Minnesota Twins and Matt Shoemaker (1-0, 1.50) at -195 over the visiting Seattle Mariners and Chris Flexen (1-0, 0.00) at 2:10pm ET.

April 11 MLB Picks

Matchup Pick and Odds at DraftKings Units Risked
Red Sox vs Orioles Red Sox -139 1 unit
Braves vs Phillies Phillies +133 1 unit
Reds vs Diamondbacks Over 9 (-120) 1 unit

Odds as of April 11th.

Pick 1: Red Sox (-139)

A year after finishing in last place in the American League East, the Boston Red Sox are the surprise early leaders. A five-game winning streak has raised their record to 5-3 and they will look to sweep a three-game series from the Orioles at 1:05pm ET in Baltimore.

Right-hander Nick Pivetta (1-0, 0.00) has been quietly outstanding for the Red Sox since being acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies in a trade last season. He has won all three starts with a 1.20 ERA.

In his one outing this season, Pivetta pitched five shutout innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. The only blemish was four walks, but he allowed just two hits and had four strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Jorge Lopez’s lone start for the Orioles in 2021 did not go well. Lopez (0-1, 7.71) lost to the New York Yankees, giving up four runs in 4.2 innings and walking three, while raising his career ERA to 6.06.

The Red Sox are hoping to have red-hot designated hitter J.D. Martinez back in the lineup after he was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday. The move was precautionary as Martinez was experiencing cold symptoms.

Martinez is 13 for 30 (.433) with seven doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs so far this season.

Pick 2: Phillies (+133)

The Braves look to turn the tables on the Philadelphia Phillies with a three-game series sweep as Drew Smyly starts against fellow left-hander Matt Moore at 7:08pm ET. The Phillies took three from the Braves in Philadelphia last weekend.

Moore will be making his second start of the year after spending last season in Japan. Facing the New York Mets on Tuesday, Moore allowed two runs in 3.1 innings in a no-decision and had four walks and four strikeouts.

However, one scout who was in attendance said Moore’s curveball was sharper that it had been in years and predicted the 31-year-old would have a good season.

Signed in free agency, Smyly did not factor in the decision in his Braves’ debut. He gave up four runs – two earned – in six innings against the Washington Nationals but struck out eight.

Reigning National League MVP Freddie Freeman hit a two-run home run and drove in the winning run with a groundout in the seventh inning Saturday to lead the Braves to a 5-4 victory.

We’ll take the scout’s word here and play Moore as an underdog.

Pick 3: Reds-Diamondbacks Over 9 (-120)

The Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up their three-game series at 4:10pm ET with Jose De Leon (0-0, 3.60) opposing Luke Weaver (0-0, 4.76).

The teams split the first two games with 11 runs scored in each. More runs are likely Sunday, especially with DeLeon and Weaver on the mound.

DeLeon’s career ERA is a whopping 7.79. Weaver had a 6.58 mark last season in 12 starts.

Despite losing 8-3 on Saturday, the Reds still had 11 hits and are top MLB with a .312 batting average and an average of 8.25 runs a game.
