All odds as of April 6th.

Casey Mize, the former top pick in the 2018 Amateur draft, will toe the rubber for Detroit, and will be looking to help the Tigers bounce back from a 15-6 defeat at the hands of the Twins on Monday.

Prop #1: Casey Mize Over 4.5 Strikeouts

Despite crossing the plate 15 times, Minnesota batters still struck out 13 times in the series opener. They’ve now fanned 37 times in 120 total plate appearances, which is the highest K rate (30.8%) in the American League.

That spells good news for Mize, who after underwhelming in his rookie season in 2020, was a strikeout machine in Spring Training. Mize whiffed 27 batters in 18.2 innings this spring, good for a K/9 rate of 13. He was especially strong in his final two spring starts, racking up 15 K’s over just 8 innings.

He’s got excellent stuff, including a sinker that touched 98.7 mph last month, and if his control doesn’t abandon him, he can be incredibly effective. He made three appearances against the Twins in 2020, recording 11 strikeouts in 11.2 innings of work.

Pick: Casey Mize Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-102)

Prop #2: Jose Altuve 2+ Hits

2019 was a huge disappointment for three-time AL batting champion Jose Altuve, but so far this season, he looks like his former MVP self.

He’s batting .381 through five outings, two of which were multi-hit performances, and now he gets to face a pitcher he’s raked against in the past. Altuve is 4-for-9 in his career versus projected LA starter Dylan Bundy, with a home run and 3 RBI.

Also working in his favor is a shift to the leadoff spot in the lineup. Batting first could earn Altuve an extra plate appearance on Tuesday, which increases his odds of paying off this bet.

Pick: Jose Altuve 2+ hits (+150)
