All odds as of April 7th.

Prop #1: Nick Castellanos 2+ Hits

The first player prop to target is Nick Castellanos to record 2 or more hits. The 29-year-old is off to a sizzling start to the 2021 season, batting .474, with 3 HR and 1.682 OPS, which leads the entire league.

He’s recorded at least one hit in each of his five outings, and has three multi-hit games already on his resume. The matchup against Pittsburgh’s Chad Kuhle is one to exploit, as the right-hander has been hit hard his entire career. Kuhle has a lifetime 37.8% hard hit rate, and allowed a 44% hard hit rate in his season debut, which lasted only 3 innings.

Even if Kuhle gets an early hook again on Wednesday, that’s no reason to be less bullish on Castellanos. That’s because the Pirates bullpen has an ERA of 6.15, the seventh worst mark in the Majors.

Pick: Nick Castellanos 2+ Hits (+180)

Prop #2: Nelson Cruz To Hit a Home Run

Much like Tom Brady, father time has no idea where Nelson Cruz lives. The 40-year-old looks spry in the early going and there’s no question as to whether or not he still has a lot of pop.

He’s gone deep three times already in five games, and has crushed Detroit over his career. Minny’s DH has hit 26 career home runs against the Tigers, including a pair in the series opener on Monday.

Detroit starter Matthew Boyd pitched well in his season debut, but don’t forget he allowed 2.2 home runs per 9 innings in 2020, one of the worst marks among starting pitchers.

Pick: Nelson Cruz To Hit a Home Run (+275)
