The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to sweep a two-game series from their archrivals when they host the San Francisco Giants at 10:10 p.m. ET Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.

San Francisco vs Los Angeles Probable Pitchers

Left-hander Alex Wood (2-1, 4.19) starts for the Giants against Tony Gonsolin (1-0, 1.59). Wood will be working on four days of rest while Gonsolin will have gone a week between appearances.

Wood took his first loss of the season in his previous outing last Friday against the visiting Washington Nationals. He surrendered five runs and eight hits in five innings with three strikeouts and one walk.

Wood had allowed four runs total in his first three starts of the season over 14.1 innings.

Against the Dodgers, Wood is 2-2 in his career with a 2.61 ERA in 11 games (seven starts). The former Dodger is 17-9 with a 2.93 ERA at Dodger Stadium in 54 games (41 starts).

Wood has gone 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in two road starts this year. At night, he has an 0-1 record and 6.75 ERA in two outings.

The Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman is 7 for 21 (.333) with two home runs against Wood and Chris Taylor is 4 for 13 (.308) with two doubles and two homers.

Gonsolin had his shakiest outing of 2022 against the Diamondbacks on April 26 in Arizona. He did factor in the decision after giving up three runs (two earned) and three hits in four innings while striking out five and walking one.

In his first three starts of the year, Gonsolin had yielded only one run in 13 innings.

Gonsolin has an 0-2 record against the Giants with a 4.32 ERA in three career games (two starts). He is 1-0 at home this season while pitching 10 scoreless innings and has no record and a 2.45 ERA in three night starts.

Giants vs Dodgers Betting Outlook

Taylor hit a two-run single in the second inning to open the scoring on Tuesday night and that gave the Dodgers enough cushion to hold off the Giants 3-1.

Taylor had two of Los Angeles’ five hits. Hanser Alberto doubled and scored a run for the Dodgers.

The Giants had six hits, two each by Austin Slater and Thairo Estrada.

San Francisco got one outfielder back Tuesday when Joc Pederson pinch hit and could get two more back Wednesday in Mike Yastrzemski and LaMonte Wade Jr. on Wednesday. Pederson missed three games with a right groin strain.

Yastrzemski (COVID-19) and Wade (left knee inflammation) are both candidates to be activated from the injured list. Wade has not played in the major league this season and Yastrzemski has been out since April 24.

This is the first series of the season between the teams after they split 24 games last season. That included the Dodgers edging the Giants in five games in an NL Division Series.
