  • Cleveland’s World Series odds continue to get worse as the club deals with injuries to key personnel
  • The Indians are hitting just .221 with 54 home runs in 2019
  • Who’s the best bet to win the World Series?

Before the start of the 2019 MLB season, the Cleveland Indians were expected to make the playoffs and enjoy another deep playoff run. However, after two months in that has been far from the case as Cleveland is now .500 on the season.

The Indians’ mediocre play has had a direct impact on their average World Series odds, which have lengthened from +2100 on May 14th to +2700 on May 27th as the club deals with mounting injuries and the red hot play of the Minnesota Twins.

2019 World Series Odds

Team 2019 World Series Odds

Los Angeles Dodgers +375
New York Yankees +500
Minnesota Twins +850
Philadelphia Phillies +1000
Tampa Bay Rays +1200
Boston Red Sox +1300
Chicago Cubs +1300

Will Cleveland Bounce Back?

The Cleveland Indians are currently backed by their pitching which holds a team ERA of 3.73, which is fairly good. Where they are struggling is in the hitting department. As a team, they are hitting just .221 with only 54 home runs so far. However, they have a good roster which includes the likes of Carlos Santana, Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, and others as their main positional players.

On the pitching side, they continue to get good outings from their starters to a tune of two complete games. Although they could be better, the Indians have been bitten by the injury bug.

The Indians presently have a 22.7% chance of making the playoffs.

However, I do like their roster and think if they can get the bats going they will be a team to watch out for. Baseball-Reference is giving them a 22.7% chance of making the playoffs, but I think it should be much higher as I’m confident they can squeak into a Wild Card spot. Ultimately, it has been injuries and a bit of bad luck for Cleveland as to why they are struggling, but they should bounce back.

Who’s the Best World Series Bet?

It is not even June, and picking the World Series winner is a tough task, especially as trades, injuries, and hot streaks can change a season. But, just two months in there are two teams I really like, and both are from the American League.

I think the Houston Astros and New York Yankees have the best shot of winning the World Series. Both teams are getting good pitching and hitting, and have prospects to trade at the deadline. But, I like the Astros just a little more.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies have shown they are a team to watch out for, and if they have a good month of June, they could easily become betting favorites.

One team I would advise bettors to stay away from is the Minnesota Twins. Although they are playing extremely good baseball, I’m not sold on them. They could make the playoffs, but I think the Astros are just that much better.

Pick: Houston Astros (+350)
