The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best YRFI team in MLB. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers are among the best home YRFI teams in all of baseball. As these two teams meet in Milwaukee on Monday, August 14, early fireworks would seem likely.

At the other end of the early run-scoring spectrum, the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins, who are meeting at loanDepot Park, are two of the three best NRFI bets in the National League.

The table below lists the NRFI odds (no runs first inning) and YRFI odds (yes runs first inning) for Monday’s games, followed by best bets for the day.

Padres, Marlins, Don’t Start on Time

The Marlins are 29th overall in NRFI across the entire MLB. Miami is averaging 0.27 first inning runs this season.

They’re not much better at home. The Marlins score on average 0.30 runs in the first inning of games at loanDepot Park. They’ve gone without a first inning run through each of their last three home games.

Collecting on average 0.24 runs in the first inning this season in road games, San Diego is the best NRFI road bet in the NL. In all of MLB, only the Detroit Tigers (0.14) are worse at scoring on the road in the first inning than the Padres.

Dodgers, Brewers Get After the YRFI

At 0.72 runs per game, the Dodgers are MLB’s best best on the YRFI. They scored five first-inning runs in their last game are are averaging, 1.67 first-inning runs over the past three games.

Adding to the Dodgers YRFI prowess is Monday’s LA starting pitcher Julio Urias. He’s showing a 3.68 first-inning ERA. Urias has surrendered more first inning earned runs (9) and home runs (5) than in any other inning.

Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta is saddled with a 9.00 first inning ERA. He’s allowed 10 earned runs in 10 innings. Peralta is showing an OPS of .802 in first inning action.

At home, the Brewers are a solid 0.76 runs per game in the first inning. That’s tied for third in all of baseball. The Dodgers (0.68 RPG) are the best YRFI club on the road in MLB.

Athletics, Rangers Displaying Pop-Gun NRFI Attacks

The Texas Rangers rate 20th in MLB for NRFI. They’ve scored 0.46 runs per first inning this season. By contrast, the Oakland Athletics are averaging 0.41 runs per first inning. That’s 24th in MLB.

Texas was the worst NRFI team in MLB last season. The Rangers scored 0.41 runs per game in the first inning during the 2021 campaign.

Neither the Rangers or Athletics have allowed a first inning run over the past three games.

Texas right-hander Glenn Otto, who gets the nod from the Rangers, is displaying a 4.24 first inning ERA. He’s allowed 8 earned runs in 17 innings.

By contrast, Oakland starter James Kaprielian is a stingy first inning hurler. His first inning ERA is a paltry 2.50. Kaprielian has allowed five earned runs in 18 first innings worked.
