The Brewers have a 67.21% implied win probability as -205 favorites on the moneyline in a game that will be televised by MLB Network.

The weather forecast calls for a high of 51 degrees and cloudy with wind from the east at 5-10 mph. The slightly unseasonable temperature means there is a chance the American Family Field roof could be closed.

The World Series odds show the Brewers at +1400 to win their first-ever title and the Reds at a distant +10000.

Cincinnati vs Milwaukee Probable Pitchers

Reds hard-throwing rookie Hunter Greene (1-3, 6.00) will pitch against Adrian Houser (2-2, 2.53). Both will be working on five days of rest.

Greene vs Houser

Hunter Greene
VS
Adrian Houser
1-3 Record 2-2
6.00 ERA 2.53
4.49 xERA 3.99
1.61 WHIP 1.17
2.20 SO/W 1.60

Greene has lost his last three starts since winning his major league debut. In his previous start Sunday against the Rockies at Colorado, he allowed four runs on six hits in 4.1 innings with six strikeouts and four walks. His NL Rookie of the Year odds have faded from +775 to +1800 over the past two weeks.

This will be Greene’s first career appearance against the Brewers.

Greene had 39 pitches clocked at 100 mph or faster April 16 in a start against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. However, he has not hit triple digits in his two outings since then.

Houser has won his last two starts, including beating the Cubs last Friday in Chicago when he pitched two-hit ball in six shutout innings. Houser struck out six and walked three.

The Reds have given Houser trouble as he is 1-3 with a 5.63 ERA in 11 career games (eight starts) against them.

Houser is 1-1 with a 0.77 ERA in two day starts this season. He also has a 1-1 record in day games, but his ERA is 4.66.

The Reds’ Colin Moran is 8 for 12 (.667) against Houser with two homers.

Houser will take the mound a day after having a virtual salary arbitration hearing with the Brewers. Houser is asking for $3 million and the team is offering $2.425 million.

Reds vs Brewers Betting Outlook

Rowdy Tellez set a franchise record with eight RBIs and hit two home runs to lead the Brewers’ rout Wednesday night.

Tellez broke a 2-2 tie with a 453-foot grand slam in the third inning. He then hit a two-run blast in the sixth that traveled 431 feet.

Tellez, who has four homers in his last four games, capped his big performance with a two-run double in the eighth.

Kolten Wong also homered for the Brewers. Andrew McCutchen had four hits and four RBIs and Christian Yelich — who has +5000 NL MVP odds — had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Cincinnati’s Mike Moustakas had two hits.

The Reds placed outfielders Tyler Naquin and Nick Senzel on the injured list prior to Wednesday night’s game without a specific designation. That likely means it is a COVID-19 situation.

First baseman Joey Votto went on the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday and manager David Bell said Wednesday he won’t be available for “more than a couple of days.”

Votto is hitting .122.

The Reds will also be without second baseman Jonathan India, last year’s National League Rookie of the Year, for at least two weeks after he reaggravated a right hamstring injury.

This wraps up the first of six series between the NL Central teams this season. The Brewers held a slight 10-9 edge in last year’s season series.

Reds vs Brewers Prediction

The play is obvious and that’s to fade the Reds, especially in a situation where they are facing a pitcher coming off to back-to-back wins.

Pick: Brewers ML (-205)
