The National League East-leading New York Mets visit the Miami Marlins at 6:40 pm ET Friday in the opener of a three-game series at loanDepot Park.

The Mets (45-26, 21-16 road) are coming off being swept in a two-game series in Houston by the Astros, including losing 5-3 on Wednesday before being off Thursday. The Marlins (32-36, 18-14 home) are coming off a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies at home, capped by a 3-2 win on Thursday.

Avisail Garcia drove in the winning run for the Marlins with a fielder’s choice grounder in the eighth inning to bring home the winning run Thursday against the Rockies.

Miami’s Jon Berti had two hits and two stolen base and has been successful on 21 consecutive steal attempts. Jesus Aguilar also had two hits.

The Marlins placed reliever Louis Head (left shoulder impingement) on the 15-day injured list before the game.

The Mets got two hits each from Francisco Lindor and Luis Guillorme in Wednesday’s loss to the Astros. Lindor has +4000 NL MVP odds.

McNeil (right hamstring tightness) has a chance of returning to the lineup after the second baseman missed the last two games. Reliever Seth Lugo will be activated from the paternity list.

Mets vs Marlins Prediction

Alcantara is the NL Cy Young Award favorite for a reason as he has been untouchable for nearly two months. He’s the clear play, especially at about as good of a price as you’ll get on him pitching at home.
