Thursday afternoon (4:05 pm ET), the Chicago White Sox will visit the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park, kicking off the best-of-five American League Division Series.

The pitching matchup resembles a renaissance faire with Lance Lynn (11-6, 2.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) tilting at Lance McCullers Jr (13-5, 3.16 ERA, 1.22 WHIP).

The main batter and pitcher player props are listed in the table below, followed by best bets for Game 1.

Odds as of October 6th at DraftKings.

McCullers Has a Solid Playoff History

Lance McCullers Jr has pitched in four previous postseasons and completed 46.0 innings. In that span, he has a 3.04 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Both solid.

There are a couple players in the White Sox lineup he has dominated. Surprisingly, one of them is reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu. The right-fielder is just 4-for-18 (.222 average) career against McCullers with no extra-base hits and no walks. Leury Garcia is 0-for-7 with three strikeouts and no walks.

No player suiting up for the Chi-Sox has ever homered off McCullers (63 total at-bats).

I’ll take the under on hits for Abreu, plus under 0.5 home runs allowed for McCullers.

Picks: Jose Abreu under 0.5 hits (+130); Lance McCullers under 0.5 home runs allowed (-170) ; risk 1.0 unit each

Astros Have Hammered Lynn

Lance Lynn has been around a long time, and so have a lot of the players on this veteran-laden Houston roster. In total, the Stros have 165 career at-bats against Lynn, and they are batting a rock-solid .283 with a .832 OPS thanks to ten home runs and nine doubles.

The big bats have done the damage. Jose Altuve  has a .382 BA and 1.029 OPS in 34 at-bats; Michael Brantley is hitting .385 with a 1.025 OPS in 26 at-bats; and Alex Bregman has a .400 average and 1.526 OPS in 15 at-bats.

The only Houston star who has struggled against Lynn is Carlos Correa, who’s just 1-for-12 with nine Ks. Ouch.

Picks: Lance Lynn over 0.5 home runs allowed (-140); Alex Bregman over 0.5 RBI (+200)
