Chicago vs Kansas City Probable Pitchers

Kopech has been a breath of fresh air for the White Sox in 2022. He’s one of their most reliable arms, pitching to a 3.25 ERA in 22 starts. While the 4-9 record doesn’t look great, the righty just isn’t getting a lot of run support when he takes the bump.

Last time out, Kopech took the loss as he allowed three earned runs in six innings against the Astros. Kopech tends to pitch well vs. Kansas City, posting a 3.00 ERA in two appearances this season.

Kopech vs Lynch

Michael Kopech
VS
Daniel Lynch
4-9 Record 4-8
3.25 ERA 4.52
110.2 Innings Pitched 93.2
98 Strikeouts 91
53 BB 36

Lynch has gone 4-8 this year with a 4.52 ERA in 19 starts, walking 36 in 93.2 innings while collecting 91 strikeouts. Not amazing numbers, but he’s pitched relatively well as of late. On August 17th, the 25-year-old allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits against the Twins, taking the loss in the process. The start before that, however, Lynch held the mighty Dodgers to no runs in five frames.

In fact, his ERA in August is at 2.82. It’s been his best month of the campaign. Lynch also hasn’t allowed a single run to the White Sox in 11.1 innings in 22′. That’s certainly a very good sign heading into Monday.

White Sox in the Hunt

Chicago isn’t playing the most consistent baseball this season, but they still find themselves in the heart of the playoff race. Tony La Russa’s squad is just 2.5 games out of first place in the AL Central and 3.5 games behind the Rays, Jays, and Mariners in the Wild Card.

Sunday’s finale with the Guardians was postponed due to weather. However, the White Sox grabbed an important 2-0 victory over their divisional rivals on Saturday behind a gem from Johnny Cueto. Jose Abreu provided the minimal offense with an RBI double, while the other run came through a Cleveland error.

Royals in Awful Shape

Kansas City is one of the worst teams in baseball with a 49-74 record and there’s been a lot of losing lately, going 2-8 in their previous 10 games. The Royals just dropped three out of four to the Rays, including a 3-2 loss on Sunday.

Zack Greinke threw four innings of two-run baseball before exiting with forearm soreness and the bullpen held it down after his departure. The KC offense was poor though, stranding seven runners and mustering up a mere four hits.

White Sox vs Royals Pick

Instead of picking a winner, we’re going to focus on the under. It’s been hit in four of the last five games between the White Sox and Royals. Also, Kopech and Lynch are both pitching well lately, especially against these respective teams.

Pick: Under 8.5 (-105)
