NYY vs HOU Prop Pick #1: Gurriel a Steady Postseason Producer

The Astros have enjoyed plenty of downtime since closing out their regular season schedule, with their three-game ALDS clash with the Seattle Mariners marking their only action over the past 14 days. Houston hitters were far from prolific during their three-game set with Seattle, scoring just 4.33 runs per game.

One notable exception has been Yuli Gurriel. The Astros first baseman was a steady presence at the plate down the stretch, recording hits in seven of his final regular season appearances, and carried that level of production over into the ALDS with a pair of three-hit performances over the course of the three-game series.

Gurriel has also produced regularly in Postseason action on home turf, going 11-for-33 over his past nine dates, and offers lots of value as a -200 wager to hit safely at least once in Game 1

Pick: Yuli Gurriel 1+ hits (-200)

Yankees vs Astros Prop Pick #2: Stanton Struggling Historically vs Verlander

The New York Yankees managed to get past the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the ALDS despite generating just 5.6 hits per game over the course of the series. Indeed, just two Yankees players, Aaron Judge and Harrison Bader, managed to record hits in both of the team’s road dates with the Guardians. And with Justin Verlander getting the start for Houston on Wednesday night, those hitting woes could continue.

Among the most notable Yankees struggling at the plate is slugger Giancarlo Stanton. The Yankee slugger went just 2-for-16 at the plate, and has failed to record a hit in seven of his past nine road dates, including both of the Yankees’ ALDS contests in Cleveland. Considering his .182 career batting average when facing Verlander, Stanton is a solid +100 bet to go hitless on Wednesday. However, it cannot be overlooked that his two hits so far in the Postseason have been home runs, and his two career hits off Verlander also went yard.

Those numbers should attract the attention of sports bettors looking to take a flyer on the +450 odds of Stanton hitting at least one home run in Game 1.

Picks: Giancarlo Stanton no hits (+100)

NYY vs HOU Prop Pick #3: Can Verlander Rebound from Shaky ALDS Performance?

Justin Verlander was uncharacteristically roughed up in his lone Postseason appearance to date this year. The 39-year-old hurler was tagged for six runs on 10 hits while striking out just three in the Astros’ series-opening 8-7 win over Seattle.

That marks a step back after averaging almost eight Ks over his final regular season starts. Verlander has also struggled to rack up strikeouts in recent dates with the Yankees, tallying fewer than six in eight of his past 13 versus the Bronx Bombers. Considering he has only seen game action just twice in the past three weeks, and his struggles in the ALDS, look for the wily veteran to end Wednesday night with UNDER 5.5 Ks.

Pick: Justin Verlander UNDER 5.5 strikeouts (+105)
