The team with the best record in the Eastern Conference faces one of the hottest teams in the NBA when the Philadelphia 76ers visit the Sacramento Kings at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday at the Golden 1 Center.

The 76ers have won five of their last six games and their 17-7 mark is tops in the East.

Sacramento have pushed their record over .500 at 12-11 by winning four games in a row, and seven of their last eight. The Kings hadn’t won seven of eight in 2006, the last time they reached the NBA Playoffs.

Luke Walton’s team have also been the winning side against the spread in each of their last eight games but are home underdogs this time.

Kings Are Rolling

The Kings have been beating good teams during their run, with their last three victories coming over the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers. All three made the playoffs last season.

On Sunday, the Kings beat the Clippers 113-110 in Los Angeles as eight-point underdogs. Fox scored 36 points to lead Sacramento, and Buddy Hield added 22.

Fox put the finishing touches on winning the Western Conference Player of the Week award. He averaged 31 points and 8.8 assists as the Kings went 4-0.

Fox scored 12 consecutive Sacramento points in the fourth quarter against the Clippers. Included in that stretch were back-to-back three-point field goals that put the Kings ahead for good at 103-101.

In the fourth quarter of a win against the New Orleans Pelicans earlier in the week, Fox scored 17 straight Kings points in a 38-point effort.

Hield had a strong bounce back game against the Clippers. It came after he went 0-for-9 on 3-pointers in a win over the Denver Nuggets.

Hield is also a bit of a handyman.

The Kings are ninth in the NBA in field goal percentage with a 47.5% mark.

Simmons Shines for Sixers

The 76ers, behind a strong showing by Ben Simmons, downed the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets 124-108 in their previous game Saturday as 7.5-point home favorites. The Nets played without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Simmons had 16 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while making 7 of 10 field goal attempts. Nearly traded to the Houston Rockets for James Harden last month, Simmons registered his ninth double-double of the season.

Joel Embiid had another big offensive game with 33 points. He has scored 30 points or more in eight of his last nine games, averaging 35.3 in that span, while twice exceeding 40.

Embiid shined despite being listed as questionable. He landed awkwardly on his right knee in the 76ers’ previous game, a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Tobias Harris finished with 21 points and a season-high 12 rebounds, giving him back-to-back double-doubles. He also matched a season high with six assists while topping 20 points for the eighth time in his last 11 games.

The 76ers used a 14-0 run late in the third quarter to take a commanding 93-79 lead with 2:10 left. Danny Green sparked the surge by scoring eight straight points.

Philadelphia continued to shine against good competition. The 76ers are 8-3 in games against teams with records currently over .500.

All Philly Last Season

The 76ers have won three games in a row against the Kings, including two last season – 97-91 at home as 9.5-point favorites and 128-105 on the road as 5.5-point choices.

In the win at Sacramento, Harris led the 76ers with 28 points and 14 rebounds and Shake Milton added 20 points. The Kings got 23 points and seven assists from Fox and 22 points from Hield.

The 76ers have been the class of the Eastern Conference so far this season but it is unwise to buck a home underdog as hot as the Kings.
