Injury Report

Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown missed Sunday’s game with patella tendinopathy in his left knee but is expected to play Monday. Brown scored 46 points in the opening-night loss to the Knicks in New York then was limited to nine points two nights later in a loss to the Toronto Raptors in the home opener.

Reserve shooting guard Romeo Langford (left calf tightness) also sat out Sunday and is questionable.

Hornets shooting guard Terry Rozier (sprained right ankle) has missed two games in a row and is questionable. Kelly Oubre Jr. has started both times in Rozier’s stead and scored a total of 34 points.

Bridges Has Hornets Rolling

Miles Bridges has played a big role in the Hornets’ hot start and had 32 points and nine rebounds in the win over the Nets. That came on the heels of a 30-point outing effort against the Cavaliers on Friday night in Cleveland.

Bridges had just three games with at least 30 points in his first three seasons.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Lonzo Ball added 18 points, five rebounds and five assists Sunday. He then volunteered to sit out the fourth quarter because backup point guard Ish Smith was playing so well.

Smith had 15 points in 21 minutes. Another bench player, Cody Martin, contributed 12 points and five assists in 32 minutes.

The Hornets forced the Nets into 17 turnovers and held them to 25.7% (9 of 35) on three-point attempts.

Celtics Get on Track

The Celtics avoided their first 0-3 start since 2013-14 with Sunday’s win in Houston.

Boston was led by Jayson’s Tatum’s 31 points and nine rebounds. Grant Williams came off the bench and matched Schroder’s point total with a career-high 18. Al Horford had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Celtics scored 28 points off 20 turnovers. Boston also held a sizeable 31-14 edge bench scoring in large part to Williams’ effort.

Celtics vs Hornets Prediction

The Celtics went 2-1 against the Hornets last season, winning twice in Boston and losing at Charlotte.

In the game at the Spectrum Center on April 25, the Hornets won 125-104 as they got 21 points and 11 assists from Rozier. P.J. Washington also had a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Bridges added 20 points.

YouTube video

The Celtics got 20 points from Brown and 19 points and 11 rebounds from Tatum.

The Hornets are off to a good start, and it doesn’t have a fluky feel. Meanwhile, the Celtics are still trying to gel under first-year coach Ime Udoka.

Charlotte looks like an inviting home dog in this matchup.

The Pick: Hornets +1 (-112)
