It’s been quite a ride this season already for the Cleveland Cavaliers (12-6, 4-5 away), who have literally been feast or famine.

Winners of four straight, the Cavs will get another chance to see if they belong with the East heavies, as they visit the Milwaukee Bucks (12-5, 9-2 home).

The Bucks got off to a scorching start, but injuries have slowed them down — and they’ve yet to play a game with all-star Khris Middleton this year, who’s still recovering from offseason wrist surgery.

It all gets underway Friday night (Nov 25) at 8pm ET from Fiserv Forum, in a game that can be seen live on NBA League Pass.

Cleveland Betting Outlook

Licking their wounds after a blowout loss in Milwaukee — Cleveland’s fifth straight — home cooking did the Cavs some good, as they ran the table on a 4-game homestand, culminating with a 114-96 thumping of the Trail Blazers Wednesday night.

This has all happened after Cleveland ripped off eight straight wins to start the year 8-1.

Donovan Mitchell paced the way against Portland with a game-high 34 points, on 11-for-18 shooting, as all Cleveland starters finished in double-digit scoring. Darius Garland had 24 points and 12 assists, while Jarrett Allen had 24 of his own with 13 boards.

The Cavs cooked in this one, shooting 55.4% from the field and 12-for-27 from deep, a 44.4% clip. On the year, they are the 8th-highest scoring team in the league, with the second-best mark from three point range at 39.8%.

They’re no slouch on the defensive side, either, as they allow just 107.6 points per game — just a tick behind the 4th-place Bucks. Cleveland is one of two teams in the NBA that ranks top 10 in both scoring and point allowed.

Cleveland will be down a few key pieces in this one. Kevin Love (thumb) will miss his second straight game. A vital bench piece for the Cavs, the non-starters put up just 10 points against the Blazers. Caris LeVert (ankle) will miss his third straight.

Milwaukee Betting Outlook

After a stellar 9-0 start, Milwaukee has stumbled a little bit, having dropped five of their last eight games, including Wednesday night’s 118-113 loss to the Chicago Bills — just their second home loss on the campaign.

There’s no panic for Mike Budenholzer’s group, though — winning a title will do that for you. It doesn’t hurt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is powering the team.

Giannis, the current favorite in the 2023 NBA MVP odds, went for 36 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists against the Bulls, though he did commit eight turnovers.

Jrue Holiday added 14 points and 11 assists, but he also struggled protecting the ball, turning it over seven times. As a team, the Bucks shot just 12-for-38 from 3-point range (31.6%).

They are a bottom-10 team from distance, firing at a 34% clip. It’s part of the reason Milwaukee is middle of the pack in scoring at 111.5 points per game.

Cavaliers vs Bucks Prediction

This will be the second meeting between these teams, with Milwaukee taking the first at home 113-98 on Nov 16. Brook Lopez had 29 points and five boards, while drilling 7-for-9 from downtown. Giannis had an off night, shooting 6-for-18 for 16 points, with 12 boards and eight dimes.

Notable in that game: Milwaukee was +16 in three point shooting, drilling 16-for-39 (41%) in one of their best performances of the year.

Other than that performance, Cleveland has thrived head-to-head, going 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. Caution to that stat, however: they are 2-7 ATS in their last nine in Milwaukee.

Despite the Bucks’ recent struggles, expect them to show up in a matchup that deserves their full attention.
