- The schedule is headlined by the Heat hosting the Bucks and the Celtics facing the Clippers at Staples Center
- Read below for Wednesday’s best player prop bets
Wednesday night gets started with a matchup between two surprise packages in the Eastern Conference as the Cavaliers host the Bulls. Elsewhere, the Covid-hit Hornets take on the Sixers for the second time this week, and the Miami Heat welcome the Milwaukee Bucks to Florida.
Looking west, the Minnesota Timberwolves have the unenviable task of facing the Utah Jazz. Utah is favored by 8.5 points for the matchup. Fresh off the news that their starting backcourt is out indefinitely, Portland is in San Francisco to take on the Warriors, while the Boston Celtics look to bounce back from Tuesday’s defeat to the Lakers as they take on the Clippers.

LaVine Shines Without DeRozan
Zach LaVine is coming off a 32-point, eight-assist game against Denver. It’s consecutive games that he’s hit the over on this points and assists combo.
While LaVine’s averages come in at around 30 rather than the 35 required to make this prop, the absence of DeMar DeRozan through Covid changes things drastically. LaVine’s usage soars from 30.6% to almost 35% when he’s on the court without the former Spur. His assist rate also leaps, and the performance against the Nuggets shows the sort of production we can expect while DeRozan is out.
Kevin Durant said that Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan can "make something out of nothing and make shots."
Durant called both players elite.

The Cavaliers might be a great defensive team this season, but LaVine is one of the league’s elite scorers, recording 25 or more points in 16 of his 25 games. LaVine will have the ball in his hands more with DeRozan sidelined, and while Isaac Okoro is defensively gifted, the Cavs don’t have a long wing stopper to slow LaVine down.
Able to isolate more and often handling the ball in the half court, LaVine is going to have plenty of assist opportunities. He had 15 potential assists last time out, a massive uptick from his season rate of 8.6.

Chicago is the fifth-best offense in the league over the last five games. That trend should continue even against a strong Cavaliers defensive unit, and LaVine’s increased role will enable him to post some big numbers yet again.
- Pick: Zach LaVine over 34.5 points and assists (-113)
Cunningham Torches Slumping Wizards Defense
Detroit has lost its last nine. Their offense is the second-worst in the NBA. Still, though, there have been signs of life recently thanks to Cade Cunningham’s performances. The 2021 first overall pick is beginning to control NBA games as he did in college, and he’s poised to continue this good run against the Wizards on Wednesday night.
Has Cade Cunningham met or exceeded expectations so far?
After slow start to the season, safe to say Cade’s figured some things out

Washington may rank 16th in defense for the year, but don’t be fooled. They are on a 4-6 run, and have the fourth-worst defense in the NBA over that span. Cleveland, Indiana, San Antonio and New Orleans have all lit them up for 115 or more points over the last few games.
Here comes Cunningham. Detroit has lost its last three by double digits, but Cunningham has shone, scoring 26, 19 and 28 in that run. The scoring has been supplemented by 11 assists, three steals and four blocks with some healthy rebounding returns.
Guys, Cade is here. Cunningham dropped 28/11/5 tonight in DET’s loss to OKC. He played good defense, too.
He’s averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists on 42/35/78 over his last 11. Looks like he’s exactly what we expected after a quick adjustment period post-ankle injury. pic.twitter.com/mWpkWd3YI0

Simply put, Cunningham has cruised past this points and assists line in his last three. Washington’s defense is bad right now, and while this game will be played at a slow pace, Cunningham is pretty much a lock to hit the over here.
- Pick: Cade Cunningham over 21.5 points and assists (-111)
