  • New York snapped a 3-game losing skid with a loud 137-115 thumping of Houston on Monday
  • Check out the Heat vs Knicks odds below, plus our best bet and pick

It’s not the days of old when Pat Riley and Jeff Van Gundy were on the sidelines for each squad, but the rivalry between the Heat (40-36, 28-46-2 ATS) and the Knicks (43-33, 41-32-3 ATS) has been rekindled lately as they get prepared to meet for the 3rd time this month on Wednesday, March 29th at Madison Square Garden.

Tipoff for this Eastern Conference clash is set for 7:30 pm with Miami coming into New York a day after getting stomped, 106-92 in Toronto, while the Knicks await them. This game can be seen on MSG and Bally Sports Sun.

Heat vs Knicks Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Miami Heat +4 (-110) +145 OFF
New York Knicks -4 (-110) -170 OFF

Despite leading the Southeast Division, the Heat are in a dogfight to avoid the 7th seed and the play-in tournament in the NBA playoff bracket. Miami has by far the least amount of wins of any division leader this campaign and are the only team above .500 in the Southeast.

Taking all that into account as well as the fact they’re playing for the 2nd night in a row, the Heat are 4-point underdogs to the Knicks for Wednesday’s affair. New York is 21-17 at home this year and Miami are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games against teams with a winning home record.

Odds as of March 28th at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Miami Having Season To Forget

Has age caught up to the Heat? It’s a valid question as much bigger things were expected of this side than they’ve shown this year. Injuries have affected key players Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry and Victor Oladipo, all on the wrong side of 30.

With six games left in the regular season, there is no chance of them hitting their preseason projected win total of 48.5 victories. Their NBA Championship odds have lengthened tremendously from the start of the year from +2357 to +7786 showing us that the oddsmakers feel they don’t stand a chance of making a title run.

On the injury front, Kyle Lowry will likely be out as the Heat won’t make him play two nights in a row and he saved his court time for his former team on Tuesday. Jimmy Butler sat out against the Raptors with neck soreness, but we expect him to take the stage on Broadway against the Knicks.

Quickley Steps Up Big Amidst Injuries

No Jalen Brunson, no Derrick Rose, no problem. That must’ve been Immanuel Quickley’s mantra as he went off for a career high 40 points on Monday in the absence of two of the Knicks other point guards. Both are questionable for this matchup with Miami, which likely means the Knicks will rely on Quickley once again to come up big.

Miami held the former Kentucky man to under 10 points two out of the three times these sides faced each other this season, although New York does have the 2-1 season series edge going into their final matchup of the campaign.

Heat vs Knicks’ Results This Season

Date Home-Away Spread Over/Under
03/22/2023 MIA 127 – NYK 120 MIA Over
03/03/2023 MIA 120 – NYK 122 NYK Over
02/02/2023 NYK 106 – MIA 104 NYK Under

Julius Randle contributed 26 points against the Rockets as he continues his career season, averaging a double-double while appearing in every single game for his side this campaign. It appears like Randle and Quickley have rapidly put a contentious incident during last week’s loss to Orlando behind them.

The Knicks power forward grabs 1.8 offensive boards per game for a Knicks squad that’s 3rd in the league in offensive rebounds. That could pose a major factor in this one as the Heat really struggle on the glass, sitting 2nd to last in the league in defensive boards, yet another reason they’re underdogs in the NBA odds.

Putbacks are a huge part of New York’s offense, with only two squads, the Rockets ands Raptors, averaging more 2nd chance points per game than the Knicks. You can bet Randle and his frontcourt comrades are licking their lips at what should be a tired Heat team that doesn’t rebound the ball well, even when they’re rested.

Heat vs Knicks Prediction

Miami may be saving Jimmy Buckets for Gotham City, knowing they were playing two in a row, but this team just can’t be trusted right now. They’ve won just two of their last eight road games.

Our best bet advice here is to take the cautious approach and pick the Knicks on the moneyline. Although New York is up 2-1 in the season series this year, both of their victories have come by a single basket.

Pick: New York Knicks moneyline (-170)
