The Charlotte Hornets will be in Brooklyn battling the Nets in the first half of TNT’s double header Thursday night (7:30pm ET).

Both teams are confident as each come into this one after winning their last game. The Hornets went to the nation’s capital and slapped the Wizards around 114-104 on Tuesday. As for the Nets, they beat up on the Rockets, 120-108 last night.

Charlotte has won two of the last three meetings with Brooklyn including a 106-104 win as a double digit underdog on December 27, 2020. The latest odds are showing the Nets as 3.5-point favorites, and there are more than enough props to consider.

With James Harden being listed as questionable for this one, we will take a look at the Hornets’ side of the ball.

Rozier Making Up for Loss of Ball

Since LaMelo Ball went down with a wrist injury, the Hornets have been playing short-handed. Many thought Charlotte would fade being that Ball had been such an important part of the rotation.

Many were wrong, as the Hornets are now 4-1 in the five games without Ball, and one reason why is the play of Terry Rozier.

Obviously Rozier has been scoring, but his peripheral stats are where bettors can focus tonight. Over his past three games, Rozier has had at least 11 combined rebounds and assists in every game. This game figures to run at a 100 possession plus pace, which is more than enough for Rozier to record nine or more rebounds plus assists.

  • The Pick: Terry Rozier Over 8.5 Rebounds + Assist (-120)

Scary Terry is a Scorer First

The peripheral stats should be there tonight for Rozier but make no mistake, Rozier will be asked to score as well. Since LaMelo Ball went out, Rozier leads the Hornets’ starters in usage. He is also the guy that will be asked to handle the rock if this one comes down to the wire.

Rozier’s point prop is at 21.5 tonight, which seems pretty low considering he has not gone below that number in any of his last five games. The Hornets might be getting Malik Monk back, but that probably won’t matter.

Even when Monk had the game of his life against Miami last Friday scoring 32 points, Rozier still went for 26 himself.

The Nets always have a target on their backs since they are a “super team” so bettors can expect an extra gear from the Hornets. The Nets are coming off of three straight games against bottom tier teams and haven’t covered against any of them. They haven’t seen a guard like Rozier in any of those games and still had trouble defending the position. Look for more of the same tonight.

  • The Pick: Terry Rozier Over 21.5 Points (-120)
