January 31st NBA Props – Best Player Prop Bets for All Six Sunday Games

Sunday’s slate of NBA games provides some compelling matchups, even if some the league’s top players are left off of the card for available prop bets.
Brooklyn’s star trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving are all omissions in the Nets’ game against Washington. Utah’s star backcourt duo of Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley, as well as star forward Rudy Gobert aren’t available either in their meeting with the Denver Nuggets. Success on Sunday may involve taking a shot on some non-household names, but there is value to be found on the board.

The Knicks’ stout defensive totals defending shots from distance has taken a dip recently, but they’ve played Portland and Utah in two of their last three games. Utah is the top three-point shooting team in the NBA so far this season, and the Blazers are close behind at No. 3. Meanwhile, New York shooting guard RJ Barrett got off to a horrid start shooting the ball from beyond the arc, but he has come on as of late.
Barrett has been more efficient shooting the three-ball while taking fewer shots than he did to start the year. In six of his last eight games, he’s hit at least two threes, and he was 3-for-3 against the Jazz on Tuesday night. The Clippers have allowed the 10-most points from three-pointers this season, and at +180, asking Barrett to hit two tonight doesn’t seem like too tall an order.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George returned to action against Orlando on Friday night after missing the two previous games due to COVID-19 concerns, but both have been off to a tremendous start this season. Books expect Paul George to have a bit of a breakout from distance against the Knicks, but he hasn’t hit more than three three-pointers in a game since January 15 against Sacramento. George isn’t an attractive play at -170 to hit fewer than 3.5 against one of the better three-point defending teams in the league, but that appears a safer bet than taking the over at plus-money.

Another Board-Clearing Game Ahead for Drummond
By just about any metric, Minnesota is one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA this season. That’s good news for someone like Andre Drummond, who first and foremost is a rebounding machine.

Since missing a game on January 12 against Utah, Drummond played in Cleveland’s following seven games and in five of them, he pulled down more rebounds than the 14.5 he’s projected for against the Timberwolves. He hasn’t played a ton of minutes during that stretch, but he shouldn’t need more than what he’s received recently to keep up his pace against Minnesota.
Timberwolves starting center Karl-Anthony Towns has been ruled out for today’s game, as he still isn’t cleared to return to play after contracting COVID more than two weeks ago. Towns’ backup, Naz Reid, missed Minny’s last game with a sprained wrist and is questionable to play tonight. The third man up is Ed Davis, who had eight rebounds on Friday night against Philadelphia, but he gives up an inch of height and more than 50-pounds of mass to Drummond.
Drummond is the top offensive rebounder in the league and is going up against a team that ranks 28th in defensive rebounding percentage. Too much is working in the big man’s favor for him not to clear 15 boards tonight.
