Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz will get another chance to embarrass the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.

Los Angeles was without both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George when the teams met on Wednesday night. It remains to be seen whether they will be available Friday although Leonard seems primed to play.

The Clippers weren’t the only ones missing a starter as Mike Conley was sidelined for the sixth straight game for the Jazz. His status for Friday night is still unknown at the moment.

This series is one that has been owned by Utah as they have won four of the last five meetings including the 114-96 beatdown on Wednesday. The current odds have the Jazz as 3.5-point favorites in this matchup.

There is not another team in the NBA hotter than the Utah Jazz right now. They’ve only lost five games all season and still have yet to lose in the month of February. Even more impressive, they have won every one of their games in the month of February by double-digits with the exception of an eight-point win over the Pacers February 7th.

After watching five minutes of a Jazz game and it becomes obvious what they want to do offensively. They attempt 42.3 shots per game from beyond the arc which is the most in the NBA this season. Taking them is one thing and making them is another. So far this season, no team has made more three-pointers on a per game basis than the Utah Jazz.

The Clippers Are Not Pushovers

In Wednesday’s loss, the Clippers were without the services of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Nicolas Batum and Luke Kenard. In their absence, they were still up five at the half before ultimately getting blown out in the second half. It goes without saying, the Clippers are a completely different team with Kawhi Leonard on the floor.

Leonard has missed seven games this season and miraculously the Clippers have a winning record in those games (4-3). The difference Wednesday was that the Jazz were the first team with a winning record after 28 games that the Clippers have played without Leonard. Leonard has been upgraded to questionable for tonight so he is getting close to returning.

Best Betting Angle

This one will ultimately come down to whether or not Leonard plays and to a lesser degree, Kennard and Batum. All three have been tagged with a questionable status for tonight and all three could easily play. On top of those three, George has a slight chance of returning although he could be on some sort of minutes restriction if he does. He’s already missed seven games so he does seem the least likely to be in uniform tonight.

If the Clippers get a mixture of the four starters back, there is reason to believe they can compete. With all the talk of the Utah’s three-point prowess, it’s important to note that no team is shooting the three-ball better than the Clippers this season. They don’t take quite as many as the Jazz, but George, Batum and Kennard are all hitting higher than 44%. If they get even two of them back, we could see a bombs away situation where this number gets cleared easily.
