  • The Eastern Conference Finals between the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks begins Wednesday, June 22nd
  • The Bucks are currently 8-point favorites in Game 1 and the prop market is loaded with options for bettors

The Eastern Conference Finals gets underway Wednesday night when Trae Young the Atlanta Hawks visit Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30pm ET on TNT.

The Bucks survived an epic seven-game series with the Brooklyn Nets for their right to play for a spot in the NBA Finals. Though the Hawks will be tough, the Bucks have to be happy to not be playing the Philadelphia 76ers. Atlanta took care of Philadelphia in their own epic seven-game series to get this far but will have their hands full with a Milwaukee team that is an absurd -460 to win this series.

As always, FanDuel has the player prop market cornered with 100s of options for bettors to pick through. Check out the table below to see the lines on the players taking the floor tonight. Scroll down to see two of the better bets on the board.

Red Velvet is Here to Stay

Some of Kevin Huerter’s teammates have been calling him “K’Von” when he plays well. He leans into it and even says it’s like his alter ego. As sweet as K’Von is for a nickname, Kevin Huerter has officially proclaimed that from here on out, he would like to be referred to as “Red Velvet”.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that’s the best nickname on the planet right now. With a nickname like that, we should definitely be paying attention to him in the prop market.

We obviously don’t bet props because of nicknames but this one put a giant red flag on Huerter. I like to target teams that are going through injury issues and that defines the Atlanta Hawks at the moment. De’Andre Hunter is gone for the season and Bogdan Bogdanovic is going through some knee issues which is limiting his effectiveness.

Volume is king in this game we play and Huerter is seeing it at the moment. In the last two games of the Philadelphia series, Huerter was on the floor for at least 39 minutes in each game. He took a minimum of 15 shots in each of those games and scored at least 17 points in each contest. Red Velvet is a legitimate scoring option for the Hawks at a time when they need one badly.

I don’t expect Huerter to score in the 20s again tonight but that doesn’t mean his points prop is out of the question, It’s at 12.5 (-120) right now but with FanDuel’s alt line we can make it 13.5 for a smooth +108 price. I think this is a good deal given his recent form and the possibility that he takes 15+ shots tonight. Plus it will be fun to yell “Red Velvet” after every bucket.

  • The Pick: Huerter Over 13.5 Points (+108) *Alt Line

This is Trae’s Team

Obviously we love Red Velvet, but let’s not forget that this is Trae Young’s team. He may have been ice cold in Game 7 against the 76ers but we can’t expect him to make every shot. The important thing is the fact that he was willing to still shoot even though he was ice cold. He took 23 shots in that game and only connected on five. Still, he can’t be guarded.

In both Game 1s of the playoffs so far, Young has scored at least 32 points. In each game, he has taken at least 23 shots so the volume has been there. He knows how to get to the free throw line and the attempts from beyond the arc should be there given the fact that the Bucks saw their opponents take more threes than every team in the NBA except two.  I think Young drops a 30-burger tonight.

  • The Pick: Young to score 30+ Points (+102) *alt line
