Tuesday, March 23rd is a light schedule across the association, but there is no shortage of star power taking the floor.

Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets will be visiting Nikola Vucevic and the Orlando Magic, while Bradley Beal’s Washington Wizards face the New York Knicks.

Elsewhere, the Warriors host Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers. James Harden will be shorthanded without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant when the Brooklyn Nets face Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers – which could mean a big game for the Beard with the offense on his shoulders.

Another Banner Night for Porter Jr.

Michael Porter Jr. has enjoyed a relatively solid year for the Denver Nuggets, averaging 15.9 points and 7.4 boards per night. His development as the potential third star is crucial to just how far this organization goes come playoff time, despite the productivity of MVP candidate Nikola Jokic and Canadian guard Jamal Murray.

MPJ missed time earlier in the season due to COVID-19 and took time to really get back into a rhythm. However, in the month of March, the former Missouri standout has looked brilliant for Denver, averaging 20 points per contest in his last nine appearances.

Porter Jr. has also gone for 20+ in five of his last seven games, as he continues to prove his worth to the Nuggets rotation. Although most of these performances were against teams with average defensive units such as the Pelicans, Hornets, Mavericks, and Bulls, there’s a clear trend here.

Tuesday night the Nuggets visit the Orlando Magic, who don’t fare much better when it comes to containing their opponents on the scoring end. They’re 18th in the NBA in defensive rating and allow 111.3 points per contest, which is 15th in the league.

Expect Porter to keep his hot hand going and comfortably hit the over in points as Michael Milone’s squad looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss to New Orleans.

  • Pick: Michael Porter Jr Over 16.5 Points (-110)

Efficiency on the Boards for Barrett

Aside from the All-Star play of New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, RJ Barrett has also taken massive strides in year two. He’s been a key component to their success on both ends of the floor, showing improvements in every single category from his rookie season. Barrett is putting up 17.3 points per night while also grabbing 6.1 rebounds.

The former Duke standout is getting buckets and playing lockdown defense, there’s no doubt about it. But he is also having a solid impact around the rim, especially lately. Barrett has hit the over in boards in four straight contests, including eight rebounds on Sunday night in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Prior to that, Barrett had nine, eight, and six boards against the Magic, Sixers again, and the star-studded Brooklyn Nets. Philly doesn’t have Joel Embiid right now, while Orlando is actually fourth in the association in the rebounding category.

As for Tuesday’s opponent in the Washington Wizards, they’re pretty much atrocious in every category imaginable. They also allow the fourth-most boards per game in the NBA. This is definitely another opportunity for Barrett to show out again and make his presence felt inside.

  • Pick: RJ Barrett Over 5.5 Rebounds (-120)
