With just a few games remaining in the NBA Bubble in Orlando before the postseason, a Western Conference showdown will take place on Monday, August 10th, with tip-off at 3 PM EST when the Dallas Mavericks meet the Utah Jazz.

Utah is just 1-4 in Orlando and has lost two straight. The Mavs are coming off a huge OT win over the Bucks on Saturday, where Luka Doncic led his team to victory with a triple-double of 36 points, 14 rebounds, and 19 assists.

On the season, the Jazz has won both games against Dallas as they head into their final meeting of the 2019-20 campaign.

Mavs Without Doncic, Porzingis, and Finney-Smith

In the first game of a back-to-back for the Mavericks, Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, and Dorian Finney-Smith will all miss this contest due to minor injuries.

Doncic is resting his right ankle which he already sprained twice this season, while Porzingis will give his knee a day off after undergoing ACL surgery in 2018. As for Finney-Smith, he’s resting a sore hip.

Dallas has gone 2-3 in Orlando, with wins over the Kings and Bucks. Their 136-132 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday was their most impressive yet. Doncic put up ridiculous numbers, while Porzingis and Finney-Smith also dropped over 20 points apiece. It’s a foregone conclusion that the Mavs will lock up seventh place in the West as they sit more than eight games ahead of Memphis, who are in eighth. More likely than not, they will be meeting the LA Clippers in the first round of the playoffs.

Utah Looking to Finish on a High Note

The Jazz have struggled since the resumption of play, winning just once in five games. They’ve suffered defeats against the Lakers, Thunder, Spurs, and most recently, the Nuggets on Saturday. Their only victory came against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The absence of Bojan Bogdanovic has definitely been felt for this team as he’s out with a wrist injury for the remainder of the season. The big Croatian was averaging 20.2 points per game, second on the Jazz behind only Donovan Mitchell – while shooting 41 percent from three-point range.

The hope was that Mike Conley could make up for the loss of Bogdanovic, but even with him posting 20+ points in four contests, Utah is still losing basketball games. They’ve failed to capitalize on open looks at crucial moments and have also let their defense slip late in games. But on a positive note, their 134-132 OT loss to Denver on Saturday was a very good performance which they will look to build off. Mitchell dropped 35 while Rudy Gobert poured in 22 points and collected 13 rebounds in the loss.

With just two games remaining, Utah can secure the sixth spot if they can win even one contest as they sit two games ahead of Dallas currently.

Best Bet

Doncic and Porzingis are the two superstars on the Mavericks and without them, it’s hard to imagine this team winning much. Monday’s meeting with the Jazz doesn’t really mean a whole lot anyway, which seems to be why the duo is sitting out. For Utah, this is a chance to grab a much-needed victory. I do give Quin Snyder’s squad the advantage in this one. They’re a safe bet to win this one, considering Dallas is missing their two leading scorers.

Pick: Utah Jazz -7.5 (-110)
