However, it’s the Sixers at +135 that public money is liking on the moneyline. The underdog Sixers are getting 51% of the moneyline handle but just 48% of the bets. Miami is drawing 64% of spread handle but only 46% of the bets. That would suggest the sharps are more inclined to go with the 76ers in the spread and the Heat in the moneyline.

Total bettors are wagering with much greater certainty in Game 5 of the 76ers-Heat series. The over of 209 points is garnering 71% of the handle and 76% of bets.

Public Likes Suns to Rise

The Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks are also all even at 2-2 as they take the court for Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinal series. Coming home after successive losses at Dallas, the public is anticipating that the reigning Western Conference champion Suns will rebound in a big way.

As the 6-point chalk, Phoenix is drawing 96% of the public backing in terms of betting handle. As far as bets are concerned, it’s not nearly as overwhelming. Still, there’s 63% of bets supporting the Suns to cover. Also -235 moneyline favorites, bettors are placing 83% of handle and 78% of bets on the Suns to win outright.

The public is also bullish on the over. A whopping 91% of the total handle is going with over 213 points.

Take Phoenix on Moneyline

Backing the over in Game 5 of the Suns-Mavericks series would be a bold play. Dallas has gone under seven of its past nine games. Then again, the total has gone over in seven of the Mavericks’ last nine road games.

As well, Phoenix has gone over in six of the past nine games. But eight of the last 12 Suns-Mavericks games hit on the under. Both games in this series played at Phoenix have gone over.

Likewise, laying six points on the Suns might be a big ask. The Suns are 5-1 against the spread at home in the playoffs, though.

Phoenix should, however, win this game. That looks like the best play here and it’s why the public and the sharps are almost in agreement the moneyline percentages that are backing Phoenix.

Dallas is just 2-11 straight up in its last 11 games against Phoenix. Both of those wins were home-court victories. The Mavs have dropped seven games in a row at Phoenix.

Pick: Phoenix Suns ML (-250)

Heat Look to Spread the Love

Miami was far from the NBA’s best bet as a home favorite during the regular season. The Heat were just 21-21 ATS as the home chalk.

Miami has . . . go ahead, say it . . . turned up the heat in the playoffs, though. The Heat are 5-1 ATS at home during postseason play.

The Sixers, meanwhile, are a dismal 2-8 ATS over their last 10 road games. Miami won and covered at home in both Games 1 and 2 of this series against Philly.

Pick: Miami Heat spread -3 (-110)
