After an exciting series opener on Tuesday in South Beach, the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are back at it in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night. Keep reading for Heat vs Celtics player props.

A strong third quarter where the Heat outscored the C’s 39-14 helped them secure an important 118-107 victory at home behind another stellar performance from Jimmy Butler, who showed out for 41 points. Both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown did their part, but the absences of Marcus Smart and Al Horford proved to be costly for the supporting cast.

Butler Continues Torrid Run

It’s safe to say Butler has been the star of the playoffs thus far. The Heat star is averaging an impressive 29.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 10 games while shooting 53% from the field. Jimmy Buckets is stepping up the plate each and every contest, with Erik Spoelstra fully instilling his trust in the veteran.

As we know, he cooked the Sixers in the conference semifinals. Then in Game 1 of the ECF against the Celtics, it was the Butler show once again, going off for 41 against a very solid Boston defense. The 32-year-old went 12 for 19 from the field and 17 for 18 from the charity stripe in an extremely efficient performance.

If you’ve been riding the over in points for Butler, it’s definitely a good move. He’s hit over 26.5 in four of his last five outings. Frankly, this is about the most confident I’ve ever seen him in the postseason. The rest of the rotation hasn’t played great, but when Butler takes over on a consistent basis, he’s putting his team in a good position to win. Just based on the trends alone, it’s absolutely worth putting a bet down here.

  • Pick: Jimmy Butler Over 26.5 Points (-102)

Miami Contains Tatum From Deep

The Heat was the best team in the Association during the regular season at defending the perimeter, with opponents shooting only 33%. That means this series will be tough for the Celtics to get it going from long range, which includes Jayson Tatum. He’s undoubtedly the star of Boston and although he had 29 points in the series opener, most of Tatum’s production came from mid-range, at the hoop, or at the line.

The All-Star only shot 2 for 9 from beyond the arc and to be honest, I really think he’ll have to keep thriving in mid-range and/or getting downhill. Miami really prides itself on limiting the triple. Tatum will likely keep flourishing, I just don’t believe it’s going to be from deep. With the over/under at a steep 3.5 here, take this pick with confidence.

  • Pick: Jayson Tatum Under 3.5 Three-Pointers (+106)
