  • It’s a light schedule across the NBA on Saturday, May 8th, with just eight games
  • The Jazz and Nets are both in action, with Donovan Mitchell and James Harden still sidelined

It’s not a very busy Saturday on May 8th in the Association, but there are some bigger names who will not play. With the Nets and Nuggets facing off, James Harden remains out, but he is aiming for a return before the playoffs.

The Raptors, who are basically out of play-in contention at this point, will be resting both Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry against the Grizzlies. The Utah Jazz also meet with the Rockets and continue to be without Donovan Mitchell, while Mike Conley is also doubtful due to a hamstring injury.

Brooklyn will be looking to end a four-game losing streak on Saturday. They remain without James Harden (hamstring), while Chris Chiozza (hand) and Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) are out.

The Nuggets are missing Monte Morris (hamstring) and Will Barton (hamstring), leaving their backcourt options thin. PJ Dozier (hip) is also sidelined. Jamal Murray (knee) is out for the season.

Detroit still has a bunch of players out. Rodney McGruder, Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith, and Hamidou Diallo aren’t available. Cory Joseph (ankle) and Wayne Ellington (calf) are questionable, while Jerami Grant (knee) is finally expected to return. The Sixers, who aren’t far off winning the East, have a clean bill of health, with the exception of Furkan Korkmaz (ankle).

The surging Wizards are very healthy right now. The only players out are long-term absentees Thomas Bryant (knee) and Deni Avdija (ankle). The Pacers, on the other hand, are beaten up. Jeremy Lamb (knee), Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring), and Edmond Sumner (knee) are all questionable. With that being said, Aaron Holiday could see another start in the Indy backcourt if Brogdon doesn’t feature. JaKarr Sampson (concussion) and Myles Turner (toe) are ruled out.

Grayson Allen (abdomen) is the only player out for the Grizzlies on Saturday. Desmond Bane should see another start in his place alongside Ja Morant. The Raps seem to be throwing the towel in with just a couple of games left. Backcourt duo Lowry and VanVleet will be resting. Malachi Flynn will see increased minutes as a result. Chris Boucher (knee), Yuta Watanabe (ankle), and Anunoby (calf) are out.

These two teams will meet for in back-to-back games and should roll with pretty much identical lineups. For the Thunder, Mike Muscala (ankle) and Aleksej Pokusevski (knee) remain out. Lu Dort (knee), who played on Thursday, is questionable for this one. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (foot) is out for the season. Damion Lee (COVID-19), Eric Paschall (hip), and Kelly Oubre (wrist) are sidelined for the Dubs.

There is an enormous list of absences for the Rockets, but here are the most notables ones: Christian Wood (ankle), Kevin Porter Jr (ankle), and Ja’Sean Tate (knee) are all doubtful. Sterling Brown (knee) and David Nwaba (wrist) are out. Star guard John Wall (hamstring) is out for the season.

The Jazz continues to be without Conley and Mitchell, but Joe Ingles and Royce O’Neale have filled the void quite nicely.

Both teams come into Saturday’s meeting with healthy rosters. The Spurs are only without Trey Lyles (ankle) and Derrick White (ankle).
