We’re getting down to the nitty-gritty, and we’re about to see the resolve of some clubs who need wins and don’t have their go-to guys.

The Lakers have tumbled into the play-in, but LeBron James’ ankle injury still has him sidelined for at least Sunday’s tilt with the Suns. Meanwhile, the Celtics announced this morning that Jaylen Brown in out of the lineup against the Heat in a crucial battle between the 6-7 seeds in the East.

And the Pelicans will are down Zion and possibly Brandon Ingram as they try to keep their play-in hopes alive in Charlotte against a not-so-healthy Hornets squad.

Two big question marks for the Celtics in the biggest mini-set of the season against the Heat: center Robert Williams (toe) has been upgraded to probable for Sunday. But all-star Jaylen Brown has now been confirmed as out against Miami with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Victor Oladipo is still down with a knee injury and didn’t travel with the team to Boston. Andre Iguodala (undisclosed), is listed as day-to-day.

New York could be down two regulars Sunday: rookie Immanuel Quickley is doubtful with an ankle injury and Alec Burks has a knee injury. He’s also listed as doubtful.

Serge Ibaka is still sidelined with a back injury. Amir Coffey is out due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Pelicans are a MASH unit right now: Zion Williamson is out indefinitely with a fractured left ring finger, while second-leading scorer Brandon Ingram is doubtful (ankle). Center Steven Adams is questionable with a toe injury, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker (ankle) is probable.

Charlotte is ailing as well: starting forward Miles Bridges is out at least a few games as he entered into the health and safety protocol. Gordon Hayward is still aidelined but has started weight bearing exercises following a foot injury, while Devonte Graham is questionable with a knee injury.

Another game, another Kristaps Porzingis miss – his ninth straight as he’s still dealing with an ailing knee. Fellow starter Maxi Kleber is questionable vs the Cavs with an Achilles injury.

Cleveland is down multiple bodies, with Darius Garland (ankle), Lamar Stevens (concussion) and Larry Nance Jr (thumb) all out. Nance is out for the remainder of the year, as is Matthew Dellavedova (neck) and Taurean Prince (ankle). Kevin Love is questionable with a knee injury.

The TWolves are without Jaden McDaniels out (undisclosed), while Malik Beasley (hamstring), has just resumed on-court work. Jarrett Culver’s year is over after ankle surgery.

For the Magic, Wendell Carter Jr is questionable Sunday with an eye injury. Meanwhile, Terrance Ross (back), Chuma Okeke (ankle), Michael Carter-Williams (ankle), James Ennis III (calf) and Otto Porter Jr (foot), are all out and there is no definitive timetable for any of the five to return to action, perhaps for the rest of this season.

Cam Johnson is out for the Suns with a wrist injury. The Lakers’ injury list expanded after Friday’s loss against Portland.

Talen Horton-Tucker is day-to-day with a calf injury, while Alex Caruso (mild concussion) and Kyle Kuzma (themb) are both day-to-day with undisclosed ailments. Marc Gasol is probable Sunday as he battles a finger injury, and ditto Anthony Davis, who’s battling a nagging calf injury.

Dennis Schroder is still out due to health and safety protocols, while LeBron James remains out with an ankle injury. They are projecting his return Tuesday against the Knicks or Wednesday vs the Rockets.
